Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Someone was on way back in the thread, said he will have to get Dyche fit then there's the African Cup so we will see him in about February.

I think if you are going to play Brownhill Play him to our strengths, get him to sit in front of the back four and break up play. I think if McNeil is shifted into a central attacking midfield role it could work well.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:45 amWhat have you done with the real newcastle you have praised Brownhill and now have him in your preferred starting line up

We have also been linked with Marcus Tavernier
From memory I think he is a left back, so maybe this is pieters long term replacement

Tavernier is a very good player, and in a very similar mould to McNeil, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was identified as a potential replacement for McNeil should an offer come in that we cannot refuse.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
What's with all the Left back links?
Our order of priority should be
RM/RW - Cornet?
CM
Striker
RB
Obviously it doesn't work like that in terms of players becoming available, but I'd say LB is one of our strongest positions.

Could see tavernier coming in so that we have two LM options in him and Cornet

I’m still having a lie down after reading the earlier translation and picturing Dyche on a seduction operation. Not a pretty sight I would imagine

"The Clarets are not fondly regarded for their aggressive and direct style of play, though it has retained their status in the English top flight nonetheless."
From The daily mail. Do they mean our tackling players within the rules and a PL record for no red cards?
They really are inept.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think there's every chance that we might move McNeil more centrally presuming he doesn't go, but I'd be surprised if we had the money to bring in someone like Tavernier as well as Cornet in this window. Boro will want a pretty penny for him and he's certainly not actively for sale in the way someone like Maitland Niles might be.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:55 amI am adamant that this is the season Dyche moves McNeil central.

Interestingly, I'm fairly sure the chap ALK have brought in to advise them on football matters would have been Tavernier's youth coach at Boro, so there's a connection.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
At last a realistic option and much more Burnley. Good player and much less risk. Obviously I'd love to sign someone like Cornet though, but whatever happens we must get a starter for the rhs of midfield this window.claretspice wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:53 amTavernier is a very good player, and in a very similar mould to McNeil, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was identified as a potential replacement for McNeil should an offer come in that we cannot refuse.

Perhaps they mean aggressive as in "always trying to get the ball to the business end and trying to score, as opposed to pratting about passing it sideways in their own half".gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 12:23 pm"The Clarets are not fondly regarded for their aggressive and direct style of play, though it has retained their status in the English top flight nonetheless."

Zouma's decent enough as a defender, but 140k a week is crazy money even in this mad era of spending.
I guess if they've signed KZ then their interest in Tarks will cool.
Probably best for us given we'd have received a nominal fee anyway, and if Tarks stays for this season, then that'll give Collins time to bed in and get to know our system, before he comes into the first XI next term on a more regular basis.

Ronaldo inching closer to Man City apparently. Be great to have him back in the PL, ideally injured when they play us to keep the score down to 5-0

I’ve never seen him live. I would want him to play just to say I’ve seen him. Not as though it would change the result maybe just the goal difference.claret2018 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 2:33 pmRonaldo inching closer to Man City apparently. Ronaldo going to Man City just can’t happen imo. His love of United, his relationship with Ferguson and the legacy he’s built with the fans at OT.
I think we will see him return to Old Trafford. He’s a No.9 these days, AM is awful. United also do like a swansong Forward: Owen, Larson, Ibra and so on.
I’m interested in the rumours that see us selling Dwight and getting Delph, Kenny and money.

It would be great to see Ronaldo back in the PL, and I'm fairly certain he's never experienced the delights of playing at TM, though I could be wrong on that.

Don’t think he’d be over bothered. Our recent home record against the big boys, in fact against anybody has been rather hospitable..

I read a few weeks ago that Ronaldo is the first football billionaire. Not sure how true that is.

Sky Sports claim,
HUGHES AGREES PALACE DEAL
Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign Will Hughes from Watford.
It will be worth £10m including add-ons, with an initial £6m. A medical will take place tomorrow.
Crystal Palace will now target a striker, likely to be a Deadline Day signing.

Shame, there's a really good player in there and I think Dyche would have made him awesome.
