4 days to go. Patience is the key .
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Seen as though we never sign anyone at weekends it’s looking likely it will be Monday / Tuesday, last minute.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Money talks but Everton linked with Porto's winger Luiz Diaz today and he'd probably be cheaper than McNeil. They're after James Rodriguez in return (possible loan) as well so considerably cheaper than what we'd sell McNeil for.Claret_tinted wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:58 amAs mentioned before. If PSG go shopping at Everton, they’ll be cash rich and looking for a replacement.
Dwight there, players in return.

Seems Ross Barklay has been frozen out at Chelsea. Now there’s a player who would improve us...

Interesting tweet from Nixon btw
He's been asked about who are second target is, and he says

Suggests to me that it will be done before then

Normally when he says that it means hopefully nobody else breaks it then he can have it as an exclusive in his column

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Hopefully Cornet + one of Christie / AMN / Lookman.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Gut feeling, is the Cornet one is one of the maybes, but won't happen. Which will leave us with 1 signing before the deadline.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I got told it was Christie or Lennon, I'm hoping Lennon signing means we have saved a few quid in fee and wages, and that'll be put to get a bigger deal over the line
AMN maybe ?
Would be very strange at this stage for a completely new name to enter the frame, especially without no one else getting a whiff of it.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
AMN has said he prefers to play in midfield, Cornet has said he wants to play on the wing - to have any chance of signing either I suspect we would have to commit to those positions, i.e. neither in defence.
Players of that calibre are likely to hang around until the deadline to see who else sniffs around. Big risk of getting neither, but also realistically there is less money sloshing around after the pandemic so they may have no other bidders. It could be a unique opportunity for Burnley.

AMN on loan with an agreed buy fee for next summer would make sense if Arsenal can’t find a buyer this summer.MACCA wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 1:34 pmI got told it was Christie or Lennon, I'm hoping Lennon signing means we have saved a few quid in fee and wages, and that'll be put to get a bigger deal over the line

If we do get Cornet then I think any other player would not be a winger as with Ramsey we would have 4. It hopefully would be in CM as we only have 3 serious players there in Westwood, Cork and Brownhill (and as of yet Stephens has been largely injured, and still unknown re his qualities). I think the tail end of last season we saw that legs in that area were getting tired and we got over run by sides like Leeds and Southampton

If the player was worried about relegation and a drop in wages it could be a loan, and an option to buy if we stay up. Would suit both parties.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 1:38 pmGod. I don’t think it will happen but if we get cornet and that with a buy option it would be unbelievable.

I don’t read the translated version as ‘done deal’ but certainly seems to be getting closer…

Definitely doesn’t mean done deal but says negotiations are near completion suggesting it’s nearly there. Also I think l’equipe are an accurate source?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
And for those of us who have forgotten the GCSE French we learnt
It's a particularly winding, even chaotic sometimes file, but this time Maxwel Cornet (24 years old) should get involved with Burnley. For several days, as indicated in our columns last week, Lyon and the English club have agreed on an amount estimated at some €17 million.
The former Messin has long been reluctant to join the Premier League club, favouring Hertha Berlin. Lyon pushed to obtain a high price by relying on English intermediaries. Burnley offered a lower salary than that currently received by Cornet. But the negotiations are about to succeed

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
It's a long time ago now, but 5-6 years ago we used to come strong the last 15 minutes, as our fitness was always better than the opposition. I read a stat this morning, that we scored 60% of our goals in the first half last season. The highest ratio in the Prem. It tallies with a theme we've seen this season and noticeable towards the end of last, that we no longer have the legs.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 1:39 pmIf we do get Cornet then I think any other player would not be a winger as with Ramsey we would have 4. As another French speaker, I can help a bit :
"Absent du groupe qui affronte Nantes ce vendredi soir, le Lyonnais Maxwel Cornet doit rejoindre Burnley dans les heures à venir."
(Absent from the group which is facing Nantes this Friday evening, the Lyonnais Maxwel Cornet must join Burnley in the hours to come.)
L'Equipe seems to think we'll be signing him sometime today... I hope so!
