He's not in the Lyon squad for tonight, he's defo going, and the only suitor is us (which I'm still very surprised at)

Essentially more of a holding article. He's not in the squad, Lyon have accepted an offer but we havent agreed terms as yet. Negotiations are ongoing.

I think we will see him return to Old Trafford. He’s a No.9 these days, AM is awful. United also do like a swansong Forward: Owen, Larson, Ibra and so on.

Why Lisbon then? Perhaps he needs to pick up his prosthetic leg, before he has his medical. He is a bit past his best you know.

I guess they can when the buying club still has plenty of dosh, and the player in question has set his heart on returning there.

Earlier today, we covered an article from France regarding the potential transfer of Maxwel Cornet to Burnley.

Le Progrès, a local Lyon newspaper, explained that while the Ligue 1 side had accepted a bid of €16m for the player from the Clarets, he had yet to agree to the move, preferring a transfer to Hertha Berlin instead.

Well, a few hours later, L’Equipe have their update, and it’s great news for Burnley.

According to the national newspaper, the Ivorian should complete the transfer ‘in the next few hours’, valued at around €17m in their eyes.

It’s explained Cornet was ‘reticent for a long time’ about moving to the Premier League club, while Lyon ‘pushed for a high price by leaning on English intermediaries’.

As for Burnley, they ‘were offering a lower wage to the one Cornet currently earns’, but the negotiations are ‘on the verge of being completed’.

It’s not said if the Clarets upped their offer, but something changed for the player to agree to the move, that’s for sure.

Perhaps it’s just down to the ratio between basic wage to bonus and whilst the basic is less the overall figure, if he’s successful, could be more?

I have no idea how accurate but 'SalarySport.com' put his wage at £49,000 a week. Not sure what our players are on but don't think it'd be far off that for our top earners.

Transfer fees mean little in the grand scheme of things these days. It’s all about the wage structure and what a club can accommodate.

At that buying price you can afford to pay a high wage.If you paid him £60k a week on a 3 year deal-add that to his cost and its still under £9.5million.At £80k a week, its still under £12.5m. Doesn't sound ridiculous to me
