Brilliant work by Pace this window. Cannot knock what he has done for this club in the short time since his arrival.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Lot of expectation being heaped on one player which is concerning. It’s a start and it does at least markedly represent a switch from our usual reach of our scouting network, which didn’t appear to extend much further south of Stoke. However, still some glaring inadequacies that haven’t been addressed, for example, CM - how we really planning going another full season with “Westy and Corky” ? I remained largely unconvinced by Brownhill, unfortunately.
Do think we also need a right back (we’re quite elderly in that department , we need some succession) and a forward that will offer more than we’ve got recently from the likes of Barnes (horrible player) and a struggling Jay Rod. I don’t think Vydra is a regular goal scorer in the PL, needs too many chances. The Championship is more likely his level, so that only really leaves Wood as our best option for a regular supply of goals. I had hoped that we would sign a younger striker.
All in all the squad has been allowed to grow too old. Really not helped by the habitual contract extensions. I mean Kevin Long, FFS ?

Interestingly Lyon have said the fee was 15m Euros. So maybe it hasn’t broken our transfer record?

The players for a start. They've explained why they take the knee and why they don't like the booing. Given everything that Ben Mee has given to this club why not do him a simple courtesy and stfu?

Limited English, but sounds like he'll have enough to take the basics of the football pitch.
Doesn't come across as really enthusiastic to be honest, but that could be as much to do with language barrier. I just think the more we can make him feel at home, the better he can be.
I was a doubter that he would sign, very happy to be wrong. One more good signing and it will have been an excellent window.
Unlikely, but the more I see of Dykes at QPR, the more he reminds me of Chris McCann. They play him as a central defender, but he's a perfect box to box midfielder.

It certainly gives us an insight to his passion for making us more successful, even the player thanked the 'president' for giving him the confidence that Burnley was for him

Pace has tweeted we will meet up with him after the international break, so I don't think he's over here.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:12 amMy guess, only a guess, is that he was on the private jet that landed at Liverpool at 5:30 last evening. I would expect Pace to want to show off his marquee signing, and given the lad took some convincing I would also want fellow Clarets not to boo at any time today. We have to do our bit.
I won’t be there myself, too far to travel when on TV.
I’d also expect him to miss the Ivory Coast games. If he is a Burnley player today, the club has agreed with all PL clubs not to release players going to red list countries, Ivory Coast play in Mozambique.

4 in across positions we need is a pretty good effort so far. If we can get in one more player of the same ilk as Collins or Cornet even if its a loan signing then it will be an excellent window.

That’s great as long as respect for other peoples opinion goes both ways….. it rarely does.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:43 amRespect for other people's opinion.
You're not just booing BLM, you're booing the opinion of our players, our club, the town.
I don't think taking the knee takes the fight against racism forward, but booing those who do definitely takes the fight backwards.
I won’t be booing, but i respect other people’s right to if they so wish. And why would someone respect something they either don’t like or agree with? People forcing opinions and ways to behave is all a bit too “North Korea” for me. If you want to support something, do it visually, do it verbally, but if you don’t want to support it, sit quiet? Not very tolerant of others is it?

I for one don't respect the right of our fans to racially abuse our players. They've been told time and time again what the knee stands for, no reasonable other assessment of their motives after 18 months.

One very good piece of business, and a hint of more to come. Sean was asked about more but just said, "We've been in the situation before and been disappointed at the last moment, so I don't want to say any more at the moment." To me, that's a strong suggestion that we are still in the market for at least one more player.

I’d like Lookman, think he’s a dangerous player who would improve us, but the speculation about his hesitation to join us puts me off. Same could be said for Cornet though I suppose.

I suspect it was once the subject of a daily mail "PC gone mad" article, I can't find anyone ever making a serious argument that it's racist. It along with "baba black sheep, conkers etc. Was never banned. All made up, you see the same in their articles about the "woke mob" banning stuff these days. Inflammatory culture war nonsense.

I think it was in the original release from Burnley, which has now been updated and doesn't mention Sean. It could have been in one of the many other reports I've read though, but I've definitely read it somewhere this morning.
