Amazing that this thread has descended into negativity, we've just signed a very exciting player FFS.

Really? So we’re stuck with 4-4-2? Have to disagree if you think that’s the case. We have much more options available in my opinion. Apologies if it’s been said 4 million times before or commenting on the wrong post but I ain’t wading through this thread.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 4:48 pmAs discussed about 4 million times on here.......Dyche doesn't have any options on the bench.

Didn’t think he lacked effort, just thought there were more things to be “disgusted” about
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Not sure why we're blaming Vydra for conceding. It was the right decision at the time to bring Vydra on. It didn't work out, but that's football.

I thought we played well and bodes well for the season ahead and on top of that we're bringing in new/additional players and moving in the right direction, thought we ended up the better team, of course I'm disappointed not to have the 3 points we deserved but all in all I'm happy.

I'm glad it isn't just me who's noticed that, and there's several posters that are posting in this thread about things that are nothing to do with transfers whatsoever, I have reported this to the MODS so hopefully when they get the chance these particular posts will be removed as they add nothing at all to the conversation.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 4:52 pmAmazing that this thread has descended into negativity, we've just signed a very exciting player FFS.
On Cornet yes we should be genuinely excited about this lad from all the accounts I've heard, and he ticks a lot of boxes, CL experience, only 24, and seems to have an eye for goal, exactly what we've been crying out for on the right, and at £13m he's not breaking the bank, plus we may well be able to make a large profit on him in a year or two if he shines in the PL.
Arguably our biggest ever high-profile capture, and he should attract a few more punters on the turf when we play our next home game.
I can't recall the last Burnley signing that drew great excitement, but this Ivory Coast lad is doing precisely that.

it was so unlike him, very strangetiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 4:17 pmYou can excuse BFC players many things, but a lack of effort can't be tolerated by any players, especially a guy who's only coming on for 20 minutes, and who should be fresh.
I like Vydra, but he's blotted his copybook with that cameo, and if that's his attitude I can now see why he's not starting.

Need some more creativity whether that’s an attacking midfielder or striker. Hopefully we are aware of this and have a few options lined up before deadline.

That was very odd from Vydra today, not his fault for the goal but his pressing and his movement were nil and void. Bemusing

Indeed! and if he was looking to push for a starting berth, that won't have helped his cause, perhaps he does want a move away, but that's not the correct way to go about it if he does.
I know he is just returning from injury, but that was probably one of the reasons he wasn't selected to start, however he should be perfectly able to give a 100% for the last 10-15 minutes when called upon.

Just had chance to catch up with the Cornet interview on clarets Plus and I know we always say it of every signing but what a nice bloke he seems.
really excited about this and cant wait to see him create a spark and link to the forwards. Him and Dwight will be exciting to watch. We do need another quality striker though as a priority IMO .

Just an observation, opinions , i for one wanted Vydra on, and earlier than his eventual arrival . I was surprised at his lack of movement and pressing . Hopefully just rusty

How many times did the ball get played into an area where he could get involved? It felt to me the game was played at the Leeds end for the majority of time he was on the pitchHedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 6:02 pmJust an observation, opinions , i for one wanted Vydra on, and earlier than his eventual arrival . Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Two glaring ones for me, one were Wood held the ball up and backed into the defender in the edge of the box, Vydra just stood off him, rather than make the run around the outside of him for a shooting opportunity.
Second was when Wood knocked the ball passed the defender on the half way line to try and beat him for pace, he had to do this because Vydra chose not to make a run down the left channel for some reason, another wasted opportunity.
Such a shame because a 100% Vydra would have caused problems there.

Or perhaps we need to change the formation occasionally ? (revolutionary, I know). That and/ or the natural passage of time has caught up with a significant proportion of the “group”.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 6:47 pmWe badly need a new fitness coach.

It is weird that people post on a whole variety of subjects on here when there's already threads open discussing those specific subjects.

“The next ones, we’ll see, there are a couple of maybes”.
Dyche quote on the official site. I have to say that sounds reasonably optimistic for the usually utterly cautious, blunt and glass half empty SD we’ve known when talking about potential transfer activity. It does imply we may be signing more than just the one more, too.
Exciting…but who are they.

Maybe a makeweight in a deal for Dike, who Orlando rate at 20m.
Complete conjecture / discussion, no I don’t have links or sauces.

Its been noticeable this season. Doesn't help having an ageing squad who play every game, and every minute with no relief or fresh legs on the benchSkiptonClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 6:58 pmOr perhaps we need to change the formation occasionally ? We've had a cash plus player bid turned down for a young Championship player. Burnley have not yet given up hope of a deal being done. This isn't idle gossip either.

Talk on this site of getting shut of Barnes, after todays performance it's the last thing we should be looking to do. I think Rodriguez is the man we should be moving on and looking to bring in a player in his early 20s, unfortunately Jay as offered little in his time here and his days must be surely numbered

Would love Dike! A more modern and agile version of Barnes with a bit more pace. He looked VERY OFF in his last few games of the Gold Cup... subbed off matches for not affecting the game. Before the last few he was absolutely on fire. Would make sense if we went after a US based prospect and ever since I saw Dike play I thought: “he’d be great in a Burnley shirt!”CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:18 pmAnother poster posted that we are trying to get a striker in and one going to the US. I saw that runout about a US based player being suggested to because one of ours wanted a move to the US... can’t see it being Wood or JRod so it’s either Barnes or Vydra. I’d be happy with either going but I’d particularly like Dike for Barnes. If Vyds is 100% committed.... if not then Vyds goes for me. I do t make the decisions so whatever... but MLS has some real talent hidden there. Look at Brendan Aaronson and Matthew Hoppe!

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Siricki Dembele at Peterborough could be a decent buy at around £3 or £4m for a good young striker/winger. Lyndon Dykes at QPR might be on our radar but will cost a fair bit so would Vydra going there be a possibility? Keifer Moore at Cardiff could be another possibility but this would be a another Barnes type striker so probably wouldn't happen unless Barnes going the other way was offered but unlikely.
Young championship player we might be after could be Jason Knight at Derby, Lewis O'Brien at Huddersfield or Dickie at QPR but if cash plus a player is the offer then I don't think it would be a striker that we are offering. More likely a player out would be someone like Cork for O'Brien, Bardsley or Pieters for Jason Knight because of the Derby situation or Dickie.
Who might another incoming be who has been mooted recently, well if not AMN well its probably a young central midfield player maybe a loan with an option to buy or Christie from Celtic if a bid comes in for Dwight.

Hi Paul.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 4:45 pmDo you call £12 million on Nathan Collins "penny pinching?" I don't think we could call it penny pinching if NC was going to be a starter every week. never mind one of the "first reserves" for the defence.
It's always a lot easier spending the club's money if you aren't responsible for ensuring there's always a good outcome from the spending.

Good to see that under the new ownership we're willing to loosen the purse strings a little. We tried bidding lowly to begin with, but ended up having to up the bid to get Cornet in. This is exactly the kind of thing that we wouldn't have done under our previous ownership, so a very positive sign.
Besides, we still managed to get a player Lyon rated as 20m for 15m, so a good piece of business done.
If he lets us finish one or two places higher this season, that extra 3m we put into the deal should be won back.
