Would be good for the conveyer belt as lowton S long term replacement. Also potentially reduces work needed to be done next summer as Bards may move on/retire.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
He is 26 in September not 22 as reported in that clip Taio

Everton have made a loan with option to buy offer for AMN. That’s that link closed off then.

I'd be disappointed if we bought Roberts, he's nowhere near Lowton''s level. Still a year with SD will get the best out of him

I think Bardsley and Rooney are good friends-so quite possibleLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:53 amWonder if this would enable Bardsley to go to Derby?
Not that I've seen any links for him, but they are screaming for players and he'd get a lot more game time?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
While we are speaking to Swansea we should take Matt Grimes off their hands too. Centre mid, captain and a tidy ball playing midfielder. Rumoured he will go to Fulham for just 2.5m, last year of his contract.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Interesting link with Roberts. As I understand it, he has played the vast majority of his football as a right wing back, rather than a right back.

Sounds to me like AMN was our top RB/RW target but that now Everton have come in, we’ve gone in for Roberts?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I totally agree. He looks like a car crash waiting to happen every time I've seen him. Think we dodged a bullet thereQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:19 amWorrall looks awful every time I watch him.
Please, not him.

Really hope you’re wrong about that. The major problem for us is that we don’t score enough goals. Wood is fairly relatable, but the other three don’t look like they have a goal in them at the moment.

The strikers do need a freshen up. An Andre Grey type forward (but better) would do wonders for our team.
Only Wood has been consistently good over the last 18 months (when fit). Vydra is good in patches. Barnes and Jay Rod look to be on their last legs, but might suffice for one more season

When was the last time one of our substitute forwards absolutely transformed the game and the result. Personally I am struggling to remember, and its the forwards that are invariably the ones to come on. Its something that seems to happen every week in the PL, and its happened too often against us.What does that say about our own forwards

I’d say Vydra helped change the game against Villa last season.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:36 amWhen was the last time one of our substitute forwards absolutely transformed the game and the result. Agree in a Gray type striker is needed. Should be looking to use Barnes or Jay Rod in part of any deal.Ric_C wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:31 amThe strikers do need a freshen up. An Andre Grey type forward (but better) would do wonders for our team.

And how long ago-eight months ?? You have just proved my point. It happens frequently, even with the lower clubs like Newcastle, Southampton, Brightonarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:39 amI’d say Vydra helped change the game against Villa last season.

Which ones are against us? Last one I can recall is ASM, who is not really a “substitute” in normal circumstances, to be fair.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:36 amWhen was the last time one of our substitute forwards absolutely transformed the game and the result. It’s typically the opposition manager working out how to control our midfield that we suffer from, I find.

AMN going to Everton,
Lookman going to Leicester,
At least we are looking above our quality.

Just 3 games ago-both Brighton subs played big part in their two goals and changed the game. Yesterday Shackleton of Leeds drove in the cross/shot which Bamford toed in. Newcastle art tail end of last season brought Maxim on when they were losing and he caused havoc and we lost

Linked with Cyrus Christie in the Athletic. Seems a right back is definitely a priority

So around 3 years younger than Lowton and seven years younger than Bardsley. It’s something but I had kind of hoped that we’d look to younger players on the whole. I suppose 29 next month isn’t old for a prospective Dyche signing, but hardly screams succession planing.

Meanwhile a 36 year old Ashley Young is apparently playing well for Aston Villa.
Far too old for many on here.

He's not an upgrade on what we've got, he's played the majority of his football at Championship level.
Just maybe it's because that is his level.
You offer me Cyrus Christie or Matt Lowton, I take Lowton all day long.

So you think any player in their mid 30's is too old?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 1:02 pmNothing like forming a concrete opinion early doors, let's see if you are saying the same thing 10+ games in & not 3, it's a long season.

More often than not yes generally speaking to be playing consistently at a good standard in the PL, exceptions do exist but more at that age are gone by then.

No thanks to Cyrus Christie. Much prefer Connor Roberts. Then looks like AMN off to Everton, Lookman to Leicester which leaves the other link of Ryan Christie which has gone a bit quiet. Would hope we are still looking to add some more creativity.

Roberts having a medical now, according to a few rumours on Twitter.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Could Bardsley be going in the opposite direction? Plus cash.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Happy enough with this providing we still have a central midfielder coming in.
Some people won't agree but Lowton seems to have hit quite a consistent patch of form which has knocked right back off the priority list but Roberts is an upgrade on Bardsley and hopefully one to bed in for next year.

My priority now is another winger and to free up Dwight to play behind Woody in certain games at least.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 1:58 pmHappy enough with this providing we still have a central midfielder coming in.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We should put in an offer of around 6/8 million for both Matt grimes and Conner Roberts at Swansea both players contracts run out next season and are available to sign pre transfer contracts for free in January
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Priority is not another winger we have four and two others that can cover if needed, we need a centre mid and a fresh new forward to replace Jay Rod and Barnessummitclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 2:05 pmMy priority now is another winger and to free up Dwight to play behind Woody in certain games at least.
