Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
So now we’ve missed out on Christie and it’s looking likely that we sign Roberts, I wonder if we are still on the hunt for another attacking player before the deadline. Haven’t really been any other links so I guess anyone else would be a surprise one.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Regarding Christie I tend to lean (with no inside knowledge whatsoever) to wondering if Parker has made a big play for him. Feels similar to when we allegedly lost out to Stuart Armstrong in that the player had higher perception of their current ability / value than perhaps our management team (expecting palyers to fight for their position with no starting guarantees)… I could be wide of the mark.
I’ve no idea how good he is as I’ve hardly seen him. Many Celtic fans suggest he goes missing in the big games, which is the closest standard to the Prem, so perhaps it’s not the worst thing in the world to miss out.

I think it’s just a matter of more game time with Bournemouth. He must have it in his head that he will be having to fight for a team spot here and he’s taken the easier option

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
He clearly is not our No 1 target and difficult to see him starting in the same XI as McNeil and Cornet
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think having the option to play a 4-4-1-1 like we did throughout the season we finished 7th would be an option. That’s why I’m still hoping we are in for another attacking player, be it a winger or 10.Culmclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 8:58 amHe clearly is not our No 1 target and difficult to see him starting in the same XI as McNeil and Cornet

One Twitter account has us linked with Taylor Booth at Bayern Munich.
Can’t say I’ve heard of him.
American I’m guessing?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think we need a right back, Lowton had an incredible run last year but he hasn't started this season well. Also with Cornet and Roberts, it gives us a chance to play 3 at the back:
Collins Tarkowski Mee
Roberts Westwood Brownhill Cornet
Mcneil
Wood Vydra
Collins Tarkowski Mee
Roberts Westwood Brownhill Cornet
Mcneil

Agree on the 4-4-1-1 but can’t see us having three attacking players in the 4 + 1
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
It is interesting that you could argue we have targeted LWB and RWB in the transfer window as well as Dwight been pushing inside a lot recently, but I would be surprised if Dyche moved away from 4-4-2.

Seen a little bit of Booth. Good athlete, A bit raw tbh. But nothing wrong in buying potential?

I would have thought if we are looking for a 10 then 1 of 3 would be leaving, or maybe they are an attacking midfielder only.
We will know by 11pm tonight. Thank F...

It seems Scott Parker quite likes the Swansea side, links that he's in for 3 of em, and strange it looks like Swansea are having a bit of a clear out

Having watched Gudders switch to the left wing in both the Brighton and Leeds games, I suspect we are potentially looking at Gudders on the left, Cornet on the right, and McNeil in the middle. That could be a very potent midfield.

Swansea no parachute payments this season, plus run by American businessmen, they are not going to run it at a huge loss when there are assets to sellalwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:39 amIt seems Scott Parker quite likes the Swansea side, links that he's in for 3 of em, and strange it looks like Swansea are having a bit of a clear out
Course, that puts them on a completely different track to the rest of the championship who appear happy to swallow millions of debt

Surprised at that. He hasn’t done much coming forward but every goal conceded at home has come through the LB position. Defenders defend so I’m happy with him.

Re Charlie Taylor "responsible for goals "
The lack of tackling and tight marking by our powder puff midfield caused the issues
We failed to cut out the passes prior to it getting near our defence
Our dropping back Howestyle and playing for a draw also didn't help.
On Saturday our lhs midfield was AWOL for the equaliser and Charlie's slip unfortunate

Surely Booth would be coming into the U23s?
He was on loan in the Austrian second division last season.

Yeah he's been very good defensively, I think we need more going forward at right back than Lowton has offered us so far though.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:48 amSurprised at that. Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Deffo an option but cornet on left and gudmundson staying on the right also an option, but the biggest and most important option its given us imo is to play mcneil in the hole and simply give him a free role, it occurred more and more on Saturday that it could be in dyche's plan, and to use lennon as protection for gudmundson in terms of staying fit. I've said on a couple of threads I'd love us to bring someone like Ross barkley in, would be a very good window.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:42 amHaving watched Gudders switch to the left wing in both the Brighton and Leeds games, I suspect we are potentially looking at Gudders on the left, Cornet on the right, and McNeil in the middle. Not responsible. Dyche should have shored up our left side. We have Pieters. We’re ahead (twice) you bring Dwight off and support Taylor (ps both the other managers put fresh legs on against him) with Pieters. Dyche just does plug and play subs, never reacts to the other coaches moves.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Just some food for thought.
We have heard and read a lot about the use of data for helping clubs spot players etc.
I also remember that there was a story about how Memphis Depay’s agent used the same analysis and data to find a club for him following his career not progressing well at United.
It could be that this decision is one which is right for the player. Yes it’s disappointing for us and for some fans but you want the club and player to be on the same page. If they are not- I’m pleased it has allowed us to move on.

I feel for Charlie.
BHA first goal he was in the middle, covering across as our FBs do. Second goal he was culpable. Unlucky with the slip on Sunday but the second he went down I felt we were doomed.

It’s easy with hindsight but putting Pieters on instead of Vydra and giving Dwight a freer role would have given Leeds a lot more to think about.
