I read somewhere that Norwich pulled out of signing Carvalho due to his £82k a week wages.

A defensive midfielder, in addition to wingers and wing back could see us changing formation.

If you weigh up the outgoings & incomings it’s 2, Lennon is a signing & BPF remains on the books but isn’t available for selection, in the grand scheme of things it’s ok not brilliant but ok.

I’m really not sure. Probably a mixture of boredom and fascination of the peculiar.

Who are all the teams ignoring players ages? Certain teams have extended odd individual players who are nearing the 30s or over but are usually cushioned & well supported by a raft of a younger blend integrated within.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 11:34 amSeen Liverpool have given 31 yr old Henderson a new long term deal, weird all the teams ignoring players ages
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I was just wondering, bearing in mind we’ve been told it would be madness to put the club into debt from the previous Boards sycophants who now seem to support the new approach.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 11:34 amYou could logically argue we’ve only signed 1 player anyway with Collins swapped for Gibson & Hennessy for BPF that leaves cornet, I’m not mentioning AL for obvious reasons.

To be fair, none of our midfielder have 60 plus international caps and a Euros winners medal so it wasn’t an hard conclusion to reach.
Still a long time to go between now and tonight so this could still be a possibility.

Bellerin to Real Betis on loan, that's an odd one.

Just seen Curtis Jones linked on twitter for 15m. Not believable but it would be a great signing.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
You could certainly argue that Collins doesn't count as a new signing because he replaces a man who left the club in January 2020. I struggle to see how you could call it logical, though.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 11:34 amYou could logically argue we’ve only signed 1 player anyway with Collins swapped for Gibson & Hennessy for BPF that leaves cornet, I’m not mentioning AL for obvious reasons.

Not sure what's odd about it, they've been trying to ship him out all summer.

If you take 1 television out of a room & leave the room empty for 10 years devoid of a television & then decide 10 years later to replace the television, you’ve only replaced something that was once there, you’ve not gained 2 televisions you’ve lost 1 & gained 1, in this case not 10 years but over a year.

Absolutely. Would have been nice. Think we need more attacking midfielders than defensive ones though, seeing as we've got 4.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 11:40 amHe would be an enormous upgrade on what we have in there at present.

his loss, I'm not too disappointed we've missed out on him, excited to see who our new number 10 target is, there's much better players than Christie out there.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 12:09 pmGuys a bottle job dosen't want to test himself in prem, strange.

Interesting links today. Appreciate that mostly are agents drumming up interest and fan speculation but seems like we're wanting to strengthen the middle.
Points to a change of formation maybe now or in Jan when we lose a few?

The point I was making is you can't count anything as a extra when something is 1 in & 1 out.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Well, that's one way of looking at it. So does that mean Cornet is a replacement for John Connelly, and not a new player after all?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 12:09 pmIf you take 1 television out of a room & leave the room empty for 10 years devoid of a television & then decide 10 years later to replace the television, you’ve only replaced something that was once there, you’ve not gained 2 televisions you’ve lost 1 & gained 1, in this case not 10 years but over a year.

Can see us going back in for O'Brien or Knight now we've missed out on Christie although hopefully we've something else up our sleeve. I can envisage a few attempts to bring a centre mid in today as its clearly on the priority list.
That being said I think Roberts may end up as the last signing we complete.
One frustration is that we let Christie go as close to the wire as we have, if we'd have stumped the money up a month or two ago who knows, it's clear he was one of our main targets.
All in all though it's been a good window. A centre midfielder today could make it excellent.

Christie isn't a central midfielder though, he's an attacking playerConroy92 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 12:46 pmCan see us going back in for O'Brien or Knight now we've missed out on Christie although hopefully we've something else up our sleeve. I know as a club we are pretty slow at doing certain things but I think somewhere over 50 years+ we’ve replaced him with somebody else does a Trevor Meredith ring any bells?

If the fee of £2.5m is correct then we’ve potentially got a real bargain here. Also it gives us the rest of the day to try and secure an attacking player.

I can't blame him for that, he can only play in different versions of a midfield 5, and we nearly always play 442. On top of that Dyches selection is consistent. It might be difficult to persuade him he'd play regularly.
