Big-6 Clubs often sign good prospects and then loan them out get experience and maturity, so perhaps that Madeiran lad that ManU have recently signed? He's no Robbie Blake, but he sounds to have done OK in Spain & Italy

Ox if fit, would be quite a coup also.

Not sure how you arrive at that figure for Dwight compared to James, although £40m + would be very nice.claretburns wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 2:35 pmDan James, 50 Premier League appearances, 6 goals, 7 assists, moves to Leeds for £25,000,000
Dwight McNeil, 99 Premier League appearances, 7 goals, 16 assists, potential valuation? Surely north of £40,000,000 in the current market?

Plenty of time for Barkley to get to Manchester for a medical from London

His odds are 1/3 to sign for us on Sky Bet so someone’s put a few quid on today!!

Barkley has more ability in his left toe than Christie does in both feet

Just been on the Trainline app and there are two trains an hour from London Euston to Manchester Picadilly, so it looks like this may actually be happening!

If it is Barkley, I hope he's not another Drinkwater.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I know you’re jesting, but Nixon has put a fairly big hint out that it is Barkley we’ve been enquiring about.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If we did secure his signing, and he played like he did at times for Villa, then along with Cornet he could totally transform the way we play. With three strikers who have struggled in front of goal I can see why Dyche is pursuing a ‘number 10’.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Article reads that it is unlikely the finances will add up. But lets hope! Reckon he'd be a great addition and allow Dyche to revert to the 4-4-1-1 we played during the season we finished 7th.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
He has talent, never denied it, but for me he lacks application.
If he comes here then he's going to be in for a shock, but it would probably be good for him but that's going to be dependant on his attitude.
I didn't think his move to Chelsea would be a good one for him, as he'd be a squad player instead of first choice like he was at Everton where he had 4 good seasons being a key player.
Probably not helped at Chelsea by the regular manager changes
He's good for about 6 mths of a season now and it's telling that after his injury he couldn't find any form and Villa didn't really use him as a result and didn't try to sign him when they sold Grealish.
I'd take a fully fit, firing and hungry Barkley, the problem is I'm not convinced he's got that in him anymore.

I assume this Barkley thing is a loan? He’s on £5m per year?!
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I was thinking a couple of weeks ago about what Ross Barkley is doing and thought he would be good for us. That goal for Chelsea on the Turf and in fact his performance that day were impressive. But can pigs fly?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Yes loan. Reckon we'd be looking at paying around or under 50% of that. Loftus Cheek is reportedly on the same, if not more, and Fulham paid under 50% of his wages in a loan deal on deadline day last season.

Can't say I agree with paying loan fees but if they really are dealing on 25% of his wages then why not, I guess.

The agents of Saul Niguez are working hard to complete a deal today for the Atletico Madrid midfielder to move on loan to Chelsea.

Am I the only one ,not sure about Barkley?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The only thing that matters is if Dyche can get his attitude in check. If he thinks he can, I fully back him to do so.

This is the most exciting window for years.
If we could add either Barkley, Van De Beek or the Ox our business will have been best since Defour signed.
I would take Ox and van de Beek if the finances could stretch (obv on loan moves)

Can't help but feel this is very much like the Drinkwater deal but Barkley can stay fit and train well, he'll be an excellent signing.

Nope.
I'm happy to be proven wrong by him, but it's gonna take a lot of work by Dyche and the coaching staff to get Barkley firing on all cylinders if he comes here.

Word of caution on Barkley. The cognescenti on here were creaming themselves as I recall over the signing of Drinkwater, no dissenting voices were even remotely tolerated. Does this one have a little echo of the Drinkwater deal ? Certainly feels like a player who's career as, at best, stalled somewhat ? Not sure he pulled up any trees at Villa.

I wonder if SD has highlighted Barkley to AP in advance, is it SD who wants him? Or is he just the best available player?
There is a potentially great player there, I've dreamt of us signing him for years...

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think there is a big difference between Drinkwater and Barkley.
Barkley was playing well at Villa until injury, was back in the England squad etc.
Drinkwater had barely kicked a ball in anger in the previous years.
