Paul Weller is 63 today
Not the ex-Claret but the Modfather himself. Been a fan for over 40 years going back to The Jam and great to see him still releasing new and original music. Saw him in 2019 at Greenwich Naval College and a great night.
So much great stuff to choose from but here is Hung Up, a great solo single that doesn't get much play nowadays.

Re: Paul Weller is 63 today
I'm not a raving fan but he's done some great songs over the years, many of which still hold up very well.
I did see him on TV the other night looking (eventually) a bit more his age. SkyArts has been showing a 3-parter (The Live Revival) about smaller venues and how important they are in helping musicians develop. These venues are really struggling after the last 12 months and the series has shown a few decently well known musicians paying homage to the venues and playing a few (no-audience) songs.
I saw the first of these shows 20th May and Weller was fairly prominent (at 100 Club I think) and one of my haunts (The Railway, Winchester) was featured with Frank Turner playing a couple of songs there.
The two remaining shows are scheduled 27th May, 3rd June. Noel Gallagher (short non-playing piece in the 1st edition) will be featured playing in one of the forthcoming shows (Im guessing a Manc small venue).

From me (a longstanding smaller-venue gigs attendee), hats off to these musicians for highlighting these venues and their current problems.

What a fantastic bit of memorabilia . The 81 tour was fantastic saw them at Stafford Bingley Hall , old aircraft hanger superb old school gig venue . They did a great set with All Mod Cons and few Setting Sons tracks . Weller was almost possessed on stage ,musically they just tore the place apart .My shoes were so royally fecked I left them on the coach

I loved The Jam. Saw them in 1977 and was hooked. They were a brilliant band that consisted of three talented musicians. Foxton's bass playing and Buckler's drumming was comparable to any. Since The Jam, Weller moved on and so did I.

Got to agree. Post The Jam, Weller is a completely different musical style, so i never understand those that have remained loyal to him from day oneten bellies wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 11:28 pmI loved The Jam.
