It might be a bit of both but you can get stats on any player in the world. So the scouting is half done already.
We have only signed 3 players from abroad with no English experience. Defour, the German striker and the Belgian that lasted a month.
The german lad was unlucky we had inform strikers.
The other Belgian, I'm convinced he just used us to get a move to his preferred club because his former club wouldn't sell directly to them.
Nothing to be said about Defour.
The club needs to get out of the mindset that's leading to a lack of foreign players with no experience of English football being recruited.

The Belgian that lasted a month had played for Boro for a year.

So only two then.
Defour was a no brainer.

Can't believe people have forgotten Fredrik Ulvestad already.

If true then Villa certainly going for it. Not too sure though how high they could realistically finish in the Prem, can't see them finishing in the top four.

If Villa are spending big again then the pressure will be on to challenge for a European spot next season, if they don't then don't be surprised to see a change of manager.

If Villa keep this spending rate up they will be banned/have severe squad restrictions for breaking UEFA FFP - though they may be counting on that changing in time for their qualification.
We allegedly bid for Ward Prowse before Hasenhuttl came in as he was being side-lined. As for the prices Villa (and others) are paying for what used to be our recruiting territory (Championship team of the year players) I fail to see how we can ever approach those sums without a sugar daddy - which is the plan of those team I suppose, kill us with economic strength because they cannot on the pitch

unless they are expecting someone to come in with 100 million + bid for Grealish
