EURO 2020 (Real as opposed to Fantasy thread)

Post by CaptainKirk » Fri Jun 11, 2021 11:26 am

Can't see a thread on this yet.
Who is going to win this one?
All my life I had 2 dreams regarding football:
See Burnley play in the PL;
See England win a major tournament.
Not sure how many tournaments I will live to see now so this being virtually a home competition might be my last best hope.
If we do win it we might have to win all our games 3-2 as I am not overly confident in our defence. Still, winning 7 games 3-2 and settling some scores along the way would be a great watch!

Backed Portugal E/W at 9s.

Lukaku (outright) & Immobile (each way) top goal scorer.

Italy, Belgium, England and Spain to win their groups.

Looking forward to a few weeks of football hopefully with the sun out and a few beers in the garden

Have France to win it.

Griezman Golden Boot at 20s and Werner Golden Boot at 25s.

England out in the last 16 if we play France or Germany, will go semi finals if we can avoid them.

France to lift the trophy.

Golden boot winner Ronaldo has to be a contender if Portugal go far.

I honestly can't see England getting beyond the last 16 the defence simply isn't good enough when faced with genuine top quality sides.

And I can see the Scots & Welsh both also making the KO stages.

Just hoping for a great tournament and plenty of goals, and hopefully not much use of VAR.

Picked Group winners (Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, England, Spain & France) and Kane to be top scorer. England to win it of course.
Problem with being an occasional better is I tend to go for what I hope for rather than what might actually happen.

I can’t see past France being the winners. So based on that, don’t back France!

I've backed Portugal. They seem to be going under the radar a bit but they've got a much better side then when they won the last Euros.

I'm thinking Belgium to win, I don't think France will make the final.

Portugal as the favourites for me closely followed by France and Italy and as a dark horse who could upset a few I think Turkey.
