Pre-Holiday nerves
Scheduled to be off to Torremolinos on Thursday, im fully vaxed (last dose early May so well clear) and PCR test booked Wednesday morning (although seems like i wouldn't actually need to present this due to current rules around vaxed persons)
So why am i bloody paranoid about testing positive?
Having been a (admittedly non-medical) essential worker, ive been working pretty much solidly throughout COVID (Fair consideration to those who've been financially shafted by it all), often not seeing anyone outside of delivery drivers for months so im bloody desperate for this break.
Anyone else felt something similar

not sure if its exactly similar, but I have anxiety about returning to the office environment in Sept (when we're planning to phase back to that). Cant put my finger on it. try to not worry, and take it as it comes. Enjoy the time off whether you get there or not, things could be a lot worse eh

Don't worry about being scared, worried or anxious about anything. It's the only instinct that has kept the human race alive.
On the test situation. You can get a positive result by testing it on Carling or Diet Coke. It's a lottery.
Tests are free over here and you can take as many as you want from the chemist, so people are testing them on all sorts to prove they're not reliable.

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
I want to go on holiday to relax. Pre booking things, taking tests and wearing masks on planes don't fall into the relaxation category for me. That's why I'm not bothering going abroad. I just don't think holidaying abroad in the middle of a pandemic is really that necessary.

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
Happy to say I made it without issue (although if you do go away atm, allow a good hour extra as check in with the new document checks takes a lot longer).
Now happily relaxing after a busy first full day where I maybe over exerted myself ha
Biggest thing today is wondering where to go for tonight's big matches.
Any tips in Torremolinos?

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
Looked at a cruise the other day. It was a 3 night mini cruise called, 'A Taste of Scotland '.
I then checked the itinerary.
Leave Newcastle.
At sea.
Arrive Newcastle.
Must be a taste of the sea water!

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
It’s bonkers in my opinion, it’s anything but relaxation even when you have passed everything you have to make sure you stay positive throughout & then all the rigmarole coming back, swimming in the Amazon with a bleeding finger amongst shoals of hungry piranhas represents the same sort of relaxation for me.Boss Hogg wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 2:51 pmI want to go on holiday to relax. Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
Far from my experience, although tbf I was going to and from Europe, but I followed the guidance, printed off and had electronic version of the required paperwork, and did as I was told, and it's all good.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 11:06 amIt’s bonkers in my opinion, it’s anything but relaxation even when you have passed everything you have to make sure you stay positive throughout & then all the rigmarole coming back, swimming in the Amazon with a bleeding finger amongst shoals of hungry piranhas represents the same sort of relaxation for me.
You have to wear a mask round the hotel, but I'd have to do that at work anyway so it's no skin off my nose

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
We have booked a friend's villa in Crete for august. It has aircon and a small pool. The villa is up in the mountains away from it all, but there's a couple of tavs in the local village in less than 15 minutes walking distance. I don't intend doing much else, apart from driving down to the beach in the cooler parts of the day for a good swim and a bit of snorkeling.
I'll put up with the airport hassle just to get away from the UK for a couple of weeks. Not only that, but I feel like I'm currently trapped on an island prison at the moment.

And if you find that you are losing skin off your nose, your mask is probably too tight.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 11:14 amYou have to wear a mask round the hotel, but I'd have to do that at work anyway so it's no skin off my nose

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
The beauty about holidays is that you don't have to go if you don't want to
If you don't feel safe, stay at home
If you think it's safe, then go
Having had about 8 holidays cancelled since last March, I Carnt wait to get away... No nerves whatsoever.

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
Enjoy your hol Zizkov. I would also put up with the relatively minor inconvenience of getting there and back if I didn’t have to quarantine upon return, and for those who don’t want to go on holiday you don’t have to. I go on holiday just down the coast from there a couple of times a year usually but unfortunately can’t recommend anywhere for the football in Torremolinos, although I don’t think you’ll struggle to find somewhere.

Re: Pre-Holiday nerves
You don't need a PCR test to travel unless the country of entry request it. I travelled to the Canaries and just filled in a entry form on arrival, asked and showed no prove of vaccenes or negative tests.basil6345789 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 5:27 pmWhere did you book the PCR Tests, please? Staying out here until I can re enter the UK without any of the BS
