Gray
According to OneFootball, Andre starts for Jamaica tonight but in the centre of midfield. Good on the kid for playing international football

Re: Gray
One of my favourite clarets. Great to watch at his best. Rarely see players with that combination of pace and finishing at Burnley.

Cash is definitely what they needClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 11:56 pmFrom what I read it was Watford offering him as part ex for Armstrong but Blackburn want a cash sale.
Re: Gray
I hoped we'd be in for Armstrong with a year left on his contract, I think he'd be excellent with Wood, I do like Vydra but I'm not convinced he's the long term answer.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 11:56 pmFrom what I read it was Watford offering him as part ex for Armstrong but Blackburn want a cash sale.

Re: Gray
I would guess pressure from his girlfriend to be closer to London plus the pay packet is the answer. Whilst Watford isn't the nicest place, there are some very nice affluent areas close by - Bushey, Pinner, Stanmore, Radlett, Chesham, Chalfonts, Harpenden to name a handful. Plenty more within easily commutable distance of Watford.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 8:58 amWas that the reason or was it the pay packet on offer at Watford?
As said elsewhere, our near neigh neigh neighbours need cash and not player swaps, as i have read they could possibly face another transfer embargo due to their financial situation. Which is nice.

Re: Gray
They are going to be struggling with that. Haven't they just racked up two consecutive yearly losses which already breach the three year limit?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jul 21, 2021 9:31 amIt's not the financial situation but a need to be within the limits for FFP
So one assumes that this year they will need to make a profit?

Re: Gray
I notice also that season ticket prices at Ewood look to be on a par or even higher than some at Burnley, although I might be comparing this with BFC this "Early Bird" prices, even so.
On Matchday For a Cat A+ game you can pay up to £42 to sit in the Jack Walker stand and £36 is the cheapest price whereas the top price at TM is £35 is it not? I am struggling to think who in the Championship would merit CAT A+ status.
I think BFC marketing department need to be capitalising on this comparison

Re: Gray
What a load of old gash, he never ever said that or even hinted that. Because he has a famous girlfriend he's a self entitled Mr Hollywood? What a weird way to look at things, Andre always came across humble, honest and far from self entitled.

Only 50 league starts in four years at Watford. I thought he’d have done really well there.

Re: Gray
Probably didn't impress the Watford hierarchy in 2020 by hosting a birthday party and breaching Covid lockdown regulations, resulting in himself and 2 teammates, Domingos Quina and Nathaniel Chalobah, having to miss the 3-1 loss to Southampton the following day (Sunday).
A season where they were relegated by just the odd point.

Re: Gray
If I’m not mistaken we made a bit of money on signing him then selling him at a decent profit.
He did suffer after his good season with us by not having a decent winger to supply him with effective crosses for him which I think he did need more then some other strikers.

Re: Gray
If we could ship one of our other strikers out, then possibly he'd be an option to consider, especially if Vydra was the one to go, however does Andre still possess the pace he once did? If the answer is no, then he'll not be anywhere near as effective for us as in his 1st spell, but it's clear we need someone else to contribute besides Wood, his goals virtually kept us up single-handedly last term, however it'd be folly to sorely rely on him again this season, so if we could get in a striker who could even net between 7-10 goals that would make a huge difference to our prospects, now whether that striker is Andre Gray is another matter entirely, he's hardly been prolific since he left TM has he.
Just checked and Andre is out of contract in 2022, so he shouldn't be that expensive should we wish to bring him back to TM, I don't know if wages would be a problem though, and he's yet another who's now in his 30's.

Re: Gray
We forked out about £9m with the add-on's, however your quite correct we sold him on to Watford for £18m, so we roughly doubled our money, not to mention his pivotal role in our Championship winning season, definitely one of Sean Dyche's better signings for many reasons.Peter Loo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 7:39 pmIf I’m not mistaken we made a bit of money on signing him then selling him at a decent profit.

I'd be interested in how he'd link up with Dwight & perhaps Lowton as well, and he'd certainly give us a threat with running in behind defences, something which we seriously lack right now, and that's why we're so easy to defend against these days.
