Latest on the club website which is dated today

https://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/con ... v-brighton

Covid 19 info for home and visiting supporters
In line with Government guidance, we welcome supporters to follow Covid-19 health guidelines to help prevent the spread of the virus. We encourage the wearing of a facemask and ask you to carefully consider your travel to the stadium. You are welcome to bring personal sanitisers with you - there will be extra sanitiser stations available on matchday.

In line with normal ticketing policy we would ask that all supporters bring some form of photo ID with them on matchday (drivers licence, work ID, student ID or blue badge).

As we write, there are currently no requirements to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test to gain entry to this match.

So do we think they're going to ensure tickets match up to names used to purchase them?

Interesting

I can't see them checking people's names against tickets. Hopefully not anyway as I'm using my mates season ticket on Saturday.

Potentially they could, especially with Covid and if there was an outbreak linked to the game they'd need to tell everyone in attendance so they may ensure details match.

The thought of long queues and group’s of people has made me re think whether to attend on Saturday. I/we really want to but are a little nervous about it if I’m honest.

Had an interesting chat with a neighbour yesterday. He had a season ticket for years but gave it up two or three years back.
He was planning on going on Saturday but when he realised it would cost him the best part of 100 quid for 2 tickets he decided not to bother. Shows that once people get out of the habit it's very hard to get them back.

Why didn't he get 2 tickets for £60 ?

£60 for 2 adults in JM.. Cheapest in Prem or not far off.

I was thinking of buying a racehorse for the wife last week but when I realised what they cost I decided not to bother.

If your neighbour doesn't want to shell out the going rate for Prem football then it's probably not for him these days.

All very late in the day, we will be lucky to get 15k on. I genuinely think a lot of people can’t be bothered with it.

Our now annual (so far) failure to add any depth to the squad won’t help people’s perceptions.

 Brilliant. Your neighbour wants to sit in the best seats but doesn’t want to pay for them. Does he not go on holiday because the business class seats on a plane are too expensive? There are lots of cheaper options available which offer a good view of the game.

Looking at the attendances in the Football League on Saturday, I think most were pretty good and certainly in line with where they were pre Covid. If ours are down I think we'll be one of the exceptions

Probably. But in a few years time when we're back to scratching around at the bottom of the Championship and all the tourists/day trippers are long gone the club will be wondering why our crowds are so low.

Think it is fair to say the club won't be expecting someone who vanished during the Premier League days and won't pay £60 - £70 for 2 tickets in that division to be rushing back following relegation to the championship.

Then all they need to do is look at the long history of the football club to see that our crowds are usually quite low when we’re near the bottom of the second tier, even when it cost less than a quid to go on.

That's actually my/our plan. The club don't need us anymore and it's not particularly enjoyable as a spectacle for a lot of the time, so we'll wait until we get relegated before going back on.

Money isn't the problem, even value for money isn't the problem, (for us at least) it's about whether you enjoy it anymore.

Maybe some people would rather watch us in a league we can actually compete in, rather than just making up the numbers?

But what’s the point competing for a prize you don’t want (I.e. the Premier League).

You "claimed" they stopped going 2-3 years ago, now it is because we are just making up the numbers ? So when we finished 7th these neighbours gave up, they didn't bother when we came 10th either but would probably return in the championship as we would be competing :D

Be honest the conversation with your neighbour was all in your head wasn't it ?

That's a good question. The money situation means we're effectively just playing to survive every season. I personally can't get excited by the prospect of a relegation battle every year, plenty of people are quite happy with it which is fair enough.

"Why does a printed off bar code requested today give an expiry date in 2 days time and then say it is valid for 30 days from the date of issue"

That's a good question from the Covid Checks thread.... I got a printed version of my "unique 2d barcode" proving that I had had 2 jabs. But it also said that the barcode expired 2 days later. If they accept you have had the jabs why do you have to re-prove it?

It would appear the accessibility corner stand is going to be closed due to some changes needed to visitor changing rooms. I am assuming it is Covid related.

Just looking on the Ticketing section of the official website , maybe Saturday's attendance wont be as poor as some fear. There appear to be only about 200 seats left in the Bob Lord , around 570 in the Longside Upper and 40 or so in the Cricket Field. Jimmy Mac and Longside Lower I'll leave to someone else 😉

I wasn't talking about him in particular. I know plenty of people who went regularly when we were absolutely crap and don't really bother anymore.

It doesn't effect me either way but I hope as many people as possible get back to their old routine, get on the game and feel comfortable and happy.

Its been a long slog and I know how good I felt getting back to my first gig last week and to lots of people on here getting on the Turf will give them the same feeling
Exactly. Saturday was almost normal attendance aside.

In fact life these last few weeks (especially when you log off here and don’t watch the news) feels normal and it feels bloody good.
