Pope 6 nothing really to do
Lowton 6
Tarks 7 absolute beast but at fault for the 2nd.
Mee 6 at fault for the first
Taylor 7 solid and got forward a bit
JBG 6
Cork 6
Brownhill 6
McNeil 8 class - created chances and was always involved.
Barnes 7 I still don’t think he should play but he was decent today at winning the ball and bringing it down.
Wood 6 nothing really fell for him but some good hold up play.

Don't understand the low marks tbh

Even when Liverpool turned it on for most of the 2nd half, we hung in there

Bit disappointed with that first goal, as its the sort of goal we should be dealing with, but certainly lots to be pleased about

But just want to echo what everyone is saying, two players injured and our bench looks really weak, we must bring two-three-four players in this month

We done well today, McNeil was by far our stand out player made some dangerous plays in their box and got back to hack the ball
Off the line aswell.

Thought the front 2 looked good aswell just lacked any real support.

I just prefer to give an honest mark.

The same posters that were slamming Dwight McNeil last week for having little impact are giving Brownhill a mark of 7 this week.

Sums it up perfectly to me. I just don’t understand how people can’t work it out who we were up against. Someone said to me today that no one would bat an eyelid of were beaten 2-0 by Barcelona or Real Madrid yet Liverpool are better than either of those two.
Scores shouldn't be relative to the opposition in my opinion.

I won't mark, as missed 30 mins of 2nd half. However, all that I saw was excellent from us.

Pope - 7

Lowton - 7
Tarks - 7 - a bit unlucky not to score
Mee - 6 - has to do better for the 1st goal
Taylor - 6

McNeil - 8
Brownhill - 7 - much more physical today
Cork - 6 - ok but we need to replace him
Gudmundsson - 6 looked dangerous at times but then can go AWOL for chunks

Wood - 6
Barnes - 7

Rodriguez 6
Pieters - 6 but when he’s coming on at 2-0 down you know your recruitment policy has caught up with you.

I’m actually pretty pleased with our performance. We’ve had
- Shot from McNeil
- Header from Wood
- Both centre-halves could/should have scored
- Barnes misses 1v1
-Half chance for Jay

We could have easily had goals today. It’s not like we didn’t create and they were good chance as well. I’m encouraged by what I saw. We do need upgrades for Cork Gudmundson and a striker but what’s new.

We had a terrible start last season but I think if we can keep creating the chances and cut out some of the mistakes we’ll be ok. Glass half full tonight.

No, I can't understand why you would. If your considering that you're considering how good the opposition is in your ratings rather than rating our own players.

Perhaps we should have a separate rating for the opposition?

Yes, we are rating our players based on how they've performed against our opponents, simple as that. So are you saying that if we'd played like that against Barrow and lost 2-0 you would have scored our players the same way? You gave Wood 4 which, given who he was up against, I find quite ridiculous.

So if a player creates no chances, has less than 70% pass accuracy, dispossessed the most on the pitch we should rate them a 7 just because it’s against Liverpool?
Surely we are rating players on there performance regardless of the team we are playing?

Well you don't rate players, you just insult them with low scores. But surely even you can see that it is more difficult against some teams than others.

It’s slightly easier to play well against the red lion first 11 than it is against Brazil!

Sorry Tony should I give them 7’s even though they gave the ball away once out every 3 touches?

It appears some don't realise this, which is why the player ratings for some games are now becoming a nonsense.

You did! Apparently - He rarely gets close to his man to deny his opponent space for a start and let him know he’s there so to speak and standing off is embarrassing.

I did try to point out to the poster that Taylor was playing against Salah! But apparently that's irrelevant, as he's just the same every game!

Edit: Playing against a wolrd class forward line, defending for the bulk of the the game, not being at fault for either goal, constantly helping to create chances down our most gangerous flank, marking one of the world's best strikers, and keeping him to bits and bobs around the box is deemed to be a 'poor' performance?......S**t the bed!

I rate our own players performance. Wood was poor so he got a 4. Yes if our players played just as bad vs Barrow they'd also he rated the same because it's a rating of our players. It makes no difference if Barrow or Liverpool played so well against us, our own performance is what counts.

I never critique your own abject views on player performance and clear bias towards certain names over others but if you want to swoop that low then so be it.

If you want it to be a rating of our players taking into consideration the opposition then it should be entitled so.

Incredible - Wood playing up front against the likes of Matip & Van Dijk and you see no difference in him playing against League Two defenders.

We are rating our players in a game against Liverpool and I find it unbelievable that anyone can think it doesn't matter who they are playing against and how our opponents have played.

We could play against a defender who does remarkably well against us. The name on the back of his shirt doesn't represent our own players performance, nor does it reflect his on the day. If it was Max Dyche or van Dijk it wouldn't matter if our player had a bad game.

I think you need to change the title ratings if we're also taking into consideration how good the opposition is. You've been following football long enough to know opposition players, no matter how good or bad can have good and bad days.
I've never know a rating system that does this. I'll have to check Liverpools ratings for their performance against us, they must be giving their players 3's and 4s given the strength of our own players.

As you say, incredible.

Superdimitri..stop.please. You are making yourself look like a madman !!! It's so obvious that I can barely type this that a player deserves a higher rating for a level of achievement against world class opposition than if they achieve the same things against Red Lion Reserves. I mean it just is.

Imagine a player struggling to make as much of an impact against Liverpool as they would against Rochdale

Doesn't mean they had a bad game ffs.

Laughable not to take into account the opposition.

If we drew Colne in the FA Cup and won 3-0 and gave everyone 9s and 10s many people (dimitri being right at the top with his constant negatives) would rightly say you can't mark that high you have to take into account who we are playing against.
