Quite a few of us are going on Saturday. Stopping over to do day 5 too if it happens, of course. Anything to stop me watching the Leeds game

It's a while since I have seen our bowling attack bowl so full. Takes a lot of bottle.
Rewards are outdoing risks at the minute.
A lot of full balls have been going over the top though, so plenty of bounce.

I bet Root is pleased that he didn’t win the toss!

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
I agree totally, in fact, we have suddenly seemed to realise just what Test match bowling is all about. Very few balls that the batters have not had to play and even those that they were able to leave were mainly in the vicinity of the 'corridor of uncertainty'Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 12:03 pmIt's a while since I have seen our bowling attack bowl so full. Jimmy has been immaculate though and his figures are remarkable with 3 for 6 off 7 overs.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
Root would have bowled first.
When asked, he was about to say he would have bowled, but quickly changed it to we're not sorry we're bowling when the media training kicked in.
To cover himself if they put a large score on.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
Great morning for England, and Jimmy in particular, however we need to keep our foot on their throat while we're on top, and ram home this early advantage.
Rohit & Rahane leading a slight recovery, now 47-3, but crucially England are stemming the runs, and keeping the pressure on.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
Definitely England's session, and that late wicket just topped the morning off nicely. If we can continue in this vein in the afternoon, it's possible England may even be batting today.
Commentators saying it's a good pitch, so 56/4 is most certainly well below par for India.
However remember the old adage never judge a pitch until both sides have batted, and with England's fragile batting right now, I wouldn't necessarily be confident that we'll find it easy against the Indian attack.

Does anyone think Livingstone is worth a go in this England team. He reminds me of KP, just pure swagger and arrogance.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
What a start 5 down now.
Special mention to Jos Buttler who has taken all 5 catches. Takes some stick for his keeping, but I think he's a superb keeper.
The bowlers have kept the economy rate very low which has kept the pressure right on.
Keep going lads.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
Probably because Overton & Robinson are bowling really well post lunch, and perhaps Root wants to manage Jimmy's workload, he is nearly 40 don't forget, plus it's a warm day, and there must still be doubts over his fitness given he was carrying a niggle before the 2nd test, and the last thing England will want to do is overuse Jimmy, and for him to pull up injured, especially now Broad is out for a while.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
Terrific display with the ball, and in the field, now surely even our batsman can post a sizeable lead to put us in a commanding position to level the series.
Some stats for those that follow this things courtesy of TMS.
India's 78 is their third-lowest total against England. It is their lowest since they were skittled for 42 at Lord's in 1974.
It is the lowest score by a team winning the toss and batting since New Zealand were bowled out for 45 in 2013.
In England it is the second lowest by a team winning the toss and batting in the last 63 years. Pakistan were bowled out for 72 at Edgbaston in 2010.
Rohit 19, Rahane 18 the only Indian batsman to even make double figures, and extras was 3rd top scorer with 16.

Our batsmen have a great chance now to “get in” and build test innings. I just hope they show that they can do it. Great performance by the bowlers, Jimmy just gets better.
Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
You’re are all most welcome.
For my next trick I’m going to say that Hameed and Burns are bobbins and will never get runs.

Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
You would have got big odds for our opening batsman to get within 41 runs of the Indian score this morning.
Re: England vs India - 3rd Test
You would have probably got good odds on that even after the Indian innings on recent performances...Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 4:39 pmYou would have got big odds for our opening batsman to get within 41 runs of the Indian score this morning.

50 opening partnership for England, that hasn't been said very often recently. Excellent start by England, now can they really make it count.
