Bruce will find himself under real pressure if Toon don't get a result against Southampton this weekend.
3 games and 3 defeats, and we all know Ashley isn't shy in pulling the trigger.

Needs repeating that we only scored three more goals in the season we qualified for Europe than we did last season.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:50 pmGoal drought continues whilst much-changed teams for Norwich, Brighton and Southampton seemed to have no trouble in finding the back of the net whilst progressing in this competition.
Without reinforcements it would be no surprise to see us being the lowest scoring team in the PL this season.
We've never been prolific. It's just that we were always good at winning 1-0. Let's hope we can get back to that again this season.

What's the odds having done so well tonight, we get Man City in the draw coming up shortly?

Exactly! first and foremost we need to become hard to beat again.
Essentially we need to rediscover our strong jaw, tonight was a step in the right direction in this respect.

Got sky on waiting for this draw and is Kevin Phillips wearing a wig? Sure he was bald/going bald. Looks like a toupee and a bad one at that.

Some good performances tonight. I thought Collins and Lennon looked good.
Brownhill was great defensively he was everywhere.
One thing that shouted out to me was just how the service was to Wood all game. Nothing into his feet just chasing long passes.

Burnley are ball number 30 in the draw, but it's obviously late starting. (Unless I'm missing something.)

Might not be the most glamourous tie, but it should give us a chance to progress. Think Alan Pace will be happy with that.

Sorry you’re not too bothered about us progressing to the next round! You’d have probably complained if we’d have got knocked out though?Mrpotatohead wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 9:53 pmI don't know if it is just me, but I haven't as 'meh' about Burnley winning for a long while.

Shows us how far we've come when we've knocked Newcastle out of a cup competition on their own patch and it hardly even registers

Nothing against Rochdale, but it's a shame they won Tues.
Reckon Cotts would have had a decent reception.

The Newcastle supporters really dislike having Steve Bruce as their manager:

Re: Newcastle v Burnley match thread
I watched sky sports news patiently last night for any Burnley goals that might come our way. We were playing a much stronger team than we thought he would go with, but it didn't seem to help.
As goal after goal were going in at Newport and West Brom, 0-8 and 0-6? We didn't have a shot on target, every time the reporter at SJP appeared on the screen it was to tell us how Newcastle should be out of sight and that Hennesey on debut was playing on his own. Chance after chance missed.
But we got through to penalties with a red hot keeper on our side who saved the first pen to put us one up. Some great penalties followed until Josh Brownhill hit a soft effort and let them back in.
But not to worry our super hero keeper saved the next and it was down to Charlie Taylor to dispatch the best penalty of the night in the bottom corner, it didn't matter that the keeper had dived early the right way. It was perfect.
Now it didn't matter if it was awful, we were in a cup draw again. There was excitement after all. Rochdale at home is a decent draw, although I would have preferred away. A ground I never got to in the 4th division days despite being in Rochdale once and half way there on the coach the 2nd time before waterlogged pitches called them off.
But then Dyche miserable interview put me on a downer again, whinging how tough everything is and he had to play Pieters in 3 different positions.
No Sean you didn't, you have young lads you can play in the cups.
