Norwich defence
Having seen all of Norwich's games this season the centre back pairing of Hanley and Gibson look terribly poor for a PL team. Looking forward to my first home game this season when we play Norwich in a few weeks time
Re: Norwich defence
They’ve played Liverpool, Man City and Leicester. Probably best to see how they fair against the weaker sides.

Re: Norwich defence
I've not exactly been impressed by Mee and Tarky so far.
They both need to be at 100% today.

Gibson looks slow with his feet and slow reading the game

Re: Norwich defence
I was listening to a Norwich fan last week and he said they had the slowest central defender in the Premier League playing alongside the second slowest central defender in the Premier League. He may well be right, but it's a bit unfair to judge them given the teams and forwards they've come up against.

I was surprised to see a stat last week, which put Bamford up as one of the fastest players recorded in the league, so far this season.
I’d never thought of him as particularly speedy, though no slouch. Must have been late for violin practice.

Re: Norwich defence
Farke changed Norwich last season to a more defensive side. They scored a lot less and conceded a lot less than their previous promotion season. Having sold nearly all of their good players and continuing to rely on Cantwell and Pukki I can't see them doing better than last time around. hanley and Gibson is a good paring for the Championship but they're going to struggle with the real quality players in the Premier League.

He was pretty quick against us when he 'won' the penalty.

Hanley couldn’t possibly have looked good against us and England. He wouldn’t look good anywhere.superdimitri wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:10 pmHanley looked good against us and looked good against England.

The Turkish defender struggled when at Liverpool on loan-not surprised they passed on him

Re: Norwich defence
It wasn't a good look that Joey B gave Hanley when Hanley legged him up looking for a reaction ... and the only look he got was Joey looking him up and down, you could almost see Joey scraping his boot on the floor (indicating that he thought Hanley was like something nasty Joey had stood in and needed to wipe the sole of his boot) ...superdimitri wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:10 pmHanley looked good against us and looked good against England.

He also played well against England.
Don't get me wrong. I don't like the guy but that doesn't mean he doesn't play well sometimes.Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 8:01 pm

Re: Norwich defence
Norwich are in our mini league for this season presumably and noticed that they have signed quite a few players that has surprised me as they had the same outlook on economics as Burnley for Premier survival it was quoted.
Re: Norwich defence
They sold Ben Godfrey to Everton for 25m and Buendia to Villa for 33m they only spent 17m last season and 35m this season so they've a net spend of -8m over the two seasons.

Re: Norwich defence
Plus, we've averaged a £30 million per season spend since being in the Premier League.
Re: Norwich defence
Oh really so a case of lots of players signed for not a lot but gained from a few hefty fees coming in from sales, sounds like they are sticking to the policy I eluded to above.
Re: Norwich defence
I was excited when we signed Gibson with his pedigree and recent performances for Boro that earned him an England spot, I must say though every time he played for us he was absolutely woeful. He was in that 5-1 pasting by Everton and shite in Greece.
Re: Norwich defence
I think Norwich will go again they seem even weaker than last time and same players really.I think we will be ok once we get on a roll the Leeds match maybe the start of it hopefully,it’s not a bad point. We should have at least 4 points really just hope our luck changes.
