Re: Lennon
Yes he played well in the time he was in the field. Disappointing to lose that late goal after a brave performance. I’m
assuming your post is intended to be positive.
Lennon and Barnes (the other target for Burnley boo boys) battles well today IMO.

I think you'll find most said he's a better option to bring on with 10 minutes to go than not having any options from the bench at all. He did nothing wrong but it's clear what your agenda iscricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 4:52 pmI’m sure someone on here said we signed him to see 1-0 leads out.

Re: Lennon
Lennon helped to shut out Leeds down there right flank. I would have brought Pieters on the opposite flank for Dwight to do the same in the last 15

Given we lost the game today and against Brighton in the 2nd half from an attack down the oppositions right-hand side. I fail to see how anyone can see Lennon, or our right side being a weakness for us.

Starting a thread to single out a player who bears no responsibility at all for the goal we conceded. Pretty pathetic I’m sorry to say.

Re: Lennon
Lennon for a tiring JBG was correct. Hindsight is a great thing regarding the Vydra for Barnes change, seeing what we did we would have benefited from Cork replacing Barnes and shutting them out completely

I didn’t want us to resign him and didn’t rate him first time around but I thought he did quite well when he came on today. He certainly got stuck in. He won’t offer anything going forward though.
Re: Lennon
As hilarious as I find the Lennon signing, I didn’t think he was bad out there. Worked hard, won the ball back. Our problems were systemic.

Vydra was poor when he came on, but our biggest issue with substitutions is we never deviate from 4-4-2. If we’re 1-0 up with 20 minutes to go, I can’t see why we don’t go 5 in the middle.

Re: Lennon
Correct me if I'm wrong but the goal came from a poor pass from Matt Lowton who then somehow got himself to the left side of defence and tripped Charlie Taylor, allowing the dirty Leeds player to cross.

Re: Lennon
Lennon did fine today. His role was primarily to back up Lowton defensively and he did that well, putting some good challenges in and using his pace to get us out of trouble a couple of times. Unfortunately, as with others players, some of our ‘supporters’ have made their minds up about our players and this seems to cause a cognitive failure somewhere between the image being processed by their eyes and reaching their brain.

Did Lennon even touch the ball? absolute shite today for me
Re: Lennon
We completely lost our momentum and way in the game soon as Lennon was introduced, not once did he put a cross in or beat a man, he just hid on the pitch near Lowton.

Re: Lennon
Lennon came on almost as soon as we’d scored. So I think there’s more to our loss of momentum than his introduction. We clearly sat deeper and tried to hold onto the lead. And considering how lethal Leeds can be on the counter attack (as witnessed at Turf Moor very recently) I can hardly blame that decision.
Re: Lennon
We did the same against Brighton, but we didn't have Lennon then. We blew it today not because of Lennon, but because we're a w@nk team, and we'll struggle to cling on to survival by our fingernails just like in every other season.

Perhaps instead of boo boys I should’ve used the term “keyboard warriors or on line trolls” as that’s all I seem to have read recently. I think most people could see that today Lennon got in a few good blocks, a few tackles and moved forward with a few positive runs and passes at a crucial stage of the game. Anyone denying that has obviously got some kind of pre conceived agenda. I hate the negativity when there is no need.

We need to get people onside.
Re: Lennon
Strange to suggest he never touched the ball. He was involved in one of our better passages of play in the 2nd half. Driving forward with some neat interchanges in passing before a Leeds player ended it with a foul.
Re: Lennon
Except of course for the 2 top half finishes.

Is this a serious post ? Shameful from a "supporter" but also utterly dense. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and notice how fast and , yes, skilful the football we are watching at Turf Moor atm is.

To help out your debate on what Lennon did yesterday, I recorded the match and have just watched the whole game back. It may may sound geekish but I did a player watch on Lennon, this is what I recorded:
61 mins comes on
69 mins kicks ball out for Leeds throw in
77 mins wins free kick near half way line.
80 mins first time 6 yard pass to Westwood
88 mins kicks ball out for Leeds throw in
89 mins kicks Leeds player after ball has gone. Yellow card.
91 mins kicks ball out for Leeds throw in.
Make of that what you will.

Re: Lennon
I make of that the fact that the entire team was under what seemed to be pretty clear instructions to get bodies behind the ball and defend. Not sure what exactly you were expecting of Lennon in that situation but I’m sure Dyche will have been satisfied with what he saw.Vino blanco wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:54 pmTo help out your debate on what Lennon did yesterday, I recorded the match and have just watched the whole game back. Re: Lennon
Okay I've upset a few folks by saying we're pants. When did we last win at home? When was the last time we had a lead and you felt utterly confident we'd see it out? You can support the team while also recognising we're nothing special. Am I a lunatic for being even remotely realistic in my expectations? I'm glad we capitalised on the pressure we put on Leeds yesterday. Too many times we squander the short periods of dominance we (and all teams) have during games, but such low-scoring, cautious, attritional football inevitably exposes you to the fact that the other team is always still in the game, and we play this way because we aren't good enough to play any other way. How is this controversial? I hope this changes with Cornet, and perhaps his place in the team might liberate McNeil and allow him to play more centrally, I don't know, but I know there's also the possibility (and I hope I'm wrong) that all Cornet's flair might be coached out of him in service of the team shape.
