Attendance today
Re: Attendance today
I were offered a FREE ticket today sat with 4 friends and I turned it down. Regardless of the price it's a very poor spectacle unfortunately, I'd rather watch it on the box in my home comforts where I can potter about and do other things after the boredom sets in.
Re: Attendance today
I enjoyed it yesterday. But it's clearly not for you so, yes, best for you to stay away.fanzone wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:16 amI were offered a FREE ticket today sat with 4 friends and I turned it down. Re: Attendance today
Chatting to a Liverpool fan who can't get a ticket for love nor money for anfield, but always gets one when Liverpool come to Burnley
But she fully gets that jumping around and screaming like a loon when your team score isn't a good idea, and its not surprise that the knuckle draggers from Leeds don't get that concept
Fact is, we've got loads of away fans in the homes ends when the big, local clubs come, and there normally isn't any trouble
And its all revenue, and if we can't sell out, then that does say a lot about the size of our fan base (and we never sold out before the price increases, or when we offered tickets at a £5 btw)

I can only see things in one stand, I can’t be in 3 places at once. But I have since heard about Leeds fans appearing in the other stands too.
Trust me when I say, they were there. It should not be happening.

Leeds fans were in the home ends, but it happens at most stadiums for various reasons. Man Utd fans were in the home ends at Wolves yesterday.

Can’t see the issue with supporters in the wrong ends, as long as they treat each other with respect. I honestly wouldn’t care less if the was a family of Leeds fans in the home end.

But there's ceratainly a reason crowds are dwindling, but the product on offer is not progressing so has gone very stale for some.
Re: Attendance today
Sounds to me that we need as many away fans as possible to help fill the ground. Certainly can’t fill it with Clarets which is worrying. Clearly a lot have fans have found other things to spend their hard earned money

It wasn't a good game to watch on the telly.
The atmosphere would have made it far better to be at the match in person.

The ex-directors are able to go in there and I think they sit on the opposite side.

Re: Attendance today
It's worth remembering that back in the late 60s we quite often got crowds as low as 12 or 13 thousand and that was less than ten years after we won the title. I think it's just when you get to a point where there is very little possibility of further progress, and you are likely to lose more matches than you win, supporters' enthusiasm inevitably begins to wane a little.

But I've been way more bored at other games compared to yesterday.
Think most fans can understand why some choose to stay away though

Re: Attendance today
There will always be away fans in the home end. Saw it yesterday and seen it at most home games, particularly when we play the bigger teams.
Last week at Liverpool there were four Liverpool fans in front of me in the away end.
As long as people behave themselves it’s not an issue.

Are away fans not allowed in the home stands? Genuine question. Not sure whether a clarets number is required for general sale?!

Plenty of rich premier league fans join as members of other clubs to get tickets when their team is in town.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 2:01 pmI think all tickets have to be booked with a Clarets Number
It's a lottery getting tickets for the big clubs.
I say rich because you have to pay around 50 quid to join some clubs membership schemes.

Re: Attendance today
There are many fans of other NW clubs live locally and I know of some that have been to watch the clarets in other matches so have obtained a clarets number to go with their local postcode so when there chosen team plays at TM they have no problem getting a ticket in the home end. Not really rocket science how they achieve it, I think it`s been like that a while.
Re: Attendance today
Yes it isnt ideal, not sure what the answer is though ,Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 2:26 pmHad 3 spares yesterday, couldn’t give them away, no doubt it will be different when Utd or City are in town
its possibly just that lull most teams get after several seasons in the top league and you're only really ckmpetening in a mini league with the bottom half a dozen or so teams.
Re: Attendance today
Did you try to give them away on here? I'm sure there would have been takers.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 2:26 pmHad 3 spares yesterday, couldn’t give them away, no doubt it will be different when Utd or City are in town

Re: Attendance today
Clearly not. There are other clubs who have not done so either.
I’ve got the attendances from the three previous games (including number of away fans). Why a club would not release an attendance is beyond me.

Think during the early periods of boycotting at ewood attendances weren't released or dubiously inflated.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:43 pmClearly not. There are other clubs who have not done so either.

It doesn't seem that long ago that they used to announce it on the tannoy, and then subsequently on the big screen.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:43 pmClearly not. There are other clubs who have not done so either.

Not sure why it has to be a secret for so long now.

They stopped announcing when Paul Fletcher was Chief Exec., in the Championship. It was only announced when the attendance was over 15,000.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:48 pmIt doesn't seem that long ago that they used to announce it on the tannoy, and then subsequently on the big screen.

Then we got promoted and they didn’t want to announce it again because we were playing clubs with bigger stadiums… and they just stopped completely for sone reason from then on.
Similar with Man of the Match, if there no sponsor for it, there isn’t one.

Usually the match sponsor (basically the player they want to meet after the match) or alternatively, it would've been Daz asking informally asking around the press with a general consensus of who it should be.

Re: Attendance today
Does seem strange that they’ve stopped announcing it. But if you think about it, it’s quite strange that it ever became the norm to publish the attendance with the score. Not sure other sports do this, or music concerts etc.

Re: Attendance today
Especially when attendances can be manipulated, for example, if a ticket is sold but the person doesn't attend they are still included in the publicised figure. Then there's the occasion when cash is involved and the attendance is supposedly lower than it looks.

Re: Attendance today
Think it still is the sponsors but that led to the bizarre announcement in 2004/05 when we played Leeds. The sponsors had decided on Frank Sinclair who had been sent off. Think there were Leeds fans with the sponsors that day.Loyalclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 10:34 amWho actually picks the Man of the Match - the sponsors?

Yeah, same here. I've been sat next to an away fan before at the Turf, against Spurs. Never crossed my mind to report him or complain. We chatted about the game, was good to get a different view. I've done it at Huddersfield a couple of times and the people next to us were sound about it.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:28 amCan’t see the issue with supporters in the wrong ends, as long as they treat each other with respect. I suppose occasionally you'll get a small group causing bother but just deal with them as you would anyone else making trouble. I never understand all the drama around it, otherwise normal people absolutely furious, screaming and crying about someone who supports another football team sat next to them.

Correct and as tickets were supposedly limited to 1 per each membership number, it makes you wonder just how groups of Leeds fans were able to purchase tickets in the home sections?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 2:01 pmI think all tickets have to be booked with a Clarets Number
