England v Andorra
5pm kick off live on ITV. First game back at Wembley since the final. Expecting full capacity.
Andorra who are ranked 134th in the world are a whopping ….. 100/1. Worth a quid surely ?
Should be pretty straight forward for the young lions, should technically be about 10-0 but with how Southgate sets up and the second string he’s putting out it will be about 4 or 5.
Predicted line-ups
England: Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Stones, Mings, Trippier; Henderson, Bellingham; Saka, Mount, Lingard; Bamford

Re: England v Andorra
He certainly won't play Pickford, not with the trip to Poland in a few days. And Nick should still be 2nd cab on the rank.

Be lucky to touch the ball more than 5 times.
Re: England v Andorra
Good he should have less chance of injury then
Re: England v Andorra
Being so tall, he can see the far end more easily than the other keepers.
Ideal choice!

Re: England v Andorra
Seen 2 different predicted lineups, one is with Sterling starting, not Mount.
Re: England v Andorra
Johnstone in goal. Pope on the bench.

Interesting selection.

I hope Johnstone has brought a good book with him. Probably picked for a bit of experience.

Re: England v Andorra
Waste of time sending Pope. He'll have more chance of getting injured with the bus crashing than playing, no point even sending him.
Sick of these bunch of England losers. I didn't watch the last game, won't watch this and probably won't again.
Getting fed up of football(ers) in general.

The squad numbers in the Hungary game when Pope was 22 indicated he wouldn't be the number 2.

Come on Les, you really need to show a bit more respect for out national head coach. He's doing a tremendous job and if he thinks Johnstone deserves to start then who are we to argue.
As an ex Burnley loanee lets hope Bamford does us proud and bags a load of goals

But at least Southgate is picking a player on form even though he plays for the one of the smaller clubs in the Prem.

I don’t really don’t get the Burnley hate of Southgate.
He is literally the most successful manager of the last 50 years.
Is it because some of our lads don’t get a look in?

Re: England v Andorra
I've no issue with Bamford playing, but I can't fathom Johnstone. Southgate was very vocal about not picking Grealish because he was only playing in the Championship and yet he picks Johnstone.
The minute Ramsdale starts playing for Arsenal Pope wont get in the squad.

In the final, allowing a 19 year old take the last penalty did it for me.
Re: England v Andorra
So 4-3-3 it is. Trent playing in midfield with Henderson and Bellingham.

You've only to look at our shoot-out win at Newcastle to realise that, in almost all cases, you get your most experienced players to take the penalties.

It's the Burnley way. Today I bumped into a neighbour while enjoying my Sunday morning walk. I mentioned the glorious sunny weather, and he replied it was all well and good, but would probably rain before the week was out.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 4:31 pmIt's no great mystery, some of our fans don't even like SD!

Aside from his overlooking of some of our finest, his record doesn’t bear scrutiny.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 4:31 pmIt's no great mystery, some of our fans don't even like SD!
IMO his sole achievement of note is a tournament victory over Germany. Aside from that, he’s managed to look like the best England manager on the back of unbelievably friendly draws On every other occasion he’s come up against a decent side - Belgium, Italy, even Croatia in the World Cup - he’s been found wanting. He cost us the Euros with a combination of overly cautious tactics and some utterly bizarre decision making when the chips were down.
He is, I believe, a charlatan - albeit seemingly a lucky one.

Re: England v Andorra
Typical UTC hysteria GS led England to within a spot kick of winning the Euro's, and he's the 1st England manager to even take us to a EC final.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 05, 2021 4:30 pmI don’t really don’t get the Burnley hate of Southgate.

I've no real issues with him picking Johnstone if he feels the lad needs experience, and there's very few friendly matches now for managers to experiment and give players game time, so a home tie to Andorra is probably the nearest your going to get to being able to give fringe players a go.
And if GS did pick Pope, and he then returned injured, those exact same posters would still moan.
WC semi-final.
NL semi-final.
EC final.
No previous England manager has got anywhere near that type of sustained success, and yet some folks still aren't happy,

Johnstone had a very assured game when he last played for England. Southgate has seen Pope play for England on numerous occasions now, he has given him 7 caps. I expect that Southgate doesn’t feel that Pope is totally compatible with England’s style of play and is exploring other options for his number two goalkeeper. To be honest I don’t really blame him for this.
