Michael Mancienne
Bolton play Burton tonight in League 1. Just having a quick browse through the teams and seen that Michael Mancienne plays for Burton and is only …… 33 !!
Remember him playing for Wolves against us in 08/09 when they won the league and we went up via the play offs, he was absolutely colossal that game. He looked a class above in the Championship.
He was on loan from Chelsea at the time and big things was expected off him but he has never reached the highs expected albeit he has had a decent enough career.
Also remember Kightly tearing us a new one in that mentioned game at Wolves, scored 2 in a 2 nil defeat for us.
It’s crazy to think that someone who played against us in 08/09 is still playing. (Nearly 13 years ago that game against Wolves). Can’t be many more from that season still playing ?

Re: Michael Mancienne
Shane Long scored against us I think? Is Cameron Jerome still playing?
Re: Michael Mancienne
Pretty sure Jack Cork would've played against us that season for Souhampton.

So I thought you wanted examples of players still playing.

Re: Michael Mancienne
Having a week off work with nothing to do I thought I'd be bored this week, so I took on this challenge, below are players from the Championship 08/09 season, who currently play today, starting with bottom of the league Charlton and up:
Charlton 08/09:
Nicky Bailey - Cray Wanderers
Zheng Zhi - Guangzhou Evergrande
Jonjo Shelvey - Newcastle United
Scott Wagstaff - Free Agent
Darren Randolph - West Ham United
Chris Solly - Ebbsfleet United
Harry Arter - Charlton Athletic
Jose Semedo - Vitoria Setubal
Rob Elliot - Watford
Southampton 08/09:
Bradley Wright-Phillips - Columbus Crew
David McGoldrick - Sheffield United
Morgan Schneiderlin - Nice
Adam Lallana - Brighton
Lloyd James - Bath City
Bartosz Białkowski - Millwall
Joseph Mills - Northampton Town
Matt Paterson - Gosport Borough
Oscar Gobern - Havant & Waterlooville
Lee Molyneux - Bala Town
Jack Cork - Burnley
Tomáš Pekhart - Legia Warsaw
Alex Pearce - Millwall
Norwich 08/09:
David Marshall - Derby County
Jamie Cureton - Enfield
Declan Rudd - Preston North End
Wes Hoolahan - Cambridge United
Korey Smith - Swansea City
Ryan Bertrand - Leicester City
Simon Lappin - Wroxham
I think it may be best to stop with just the relegated teams or this could be a very long message. Happy to continue if anyone wants to see, but stand out on the list above Jamie Cureton, still playing at 46 years of age.

Re: Michael Mancienne
Didn't Bradley Wright Phillips go on to become a record goal scorer in the MLS?
Re: Michael Mancienne
I've only seen Jamie Cureton play once, at Potters Bar Town for Bishop's Stortford a couple of years ago. He didn't score but still had pace and energy and was making runs his teammates weren't attuned too.
I didn't realise but he's played in all top nine leagues and made over 1,000 appearances.

Mancienne went to Hamburg and I expected good things from him but somehow it didn't happen and he ended up back in the UK with Forest.
