Charlie Taylor apology doesnt go down too well...
Charlie Taylor apology doesnt go down too well...
After hitting a fan during the warm up in the Newcastle v Burnley cup game, Charlie Taylor went back to hand the fan his match shirt as a way of an apology only to be meant with some unpleasant language.
Fair play Charlie for trying to do the right thing, shame some people are just a bit silly.

The first apology sorted it.
Had it been a Burnley fan, there's would have been the icing on the cake.
It was a Newcastle fan.
Charlie scores penalty to help beat his team...then offers a Burnley shirt to a defeated Newcastle fan!
Salt in the wound

Why would (as a newcastle fan) would you want a burnley defenders top
I get the gesture and well done to Charlie - but would you want a newcastle defenders top?

With the kid hit in the face with a ball .....and his grandad getting prepared for a 2 year jail stretch I quite understand the father telling Charlie to fcuk off.

Match worn tops go for good money, especially if verified/authenticated and signed.
I'd make the bugger sign it if offered one and then sell it.
I paid £220 for a signed Harry Kane shirt as a gift for someone recently, if it had been match worn then the price would of been a lot higher.

Had it been kane who had hit him and offered his shirt things would certainly be different

Don't Newcastle have nets behind the goal during the warm-up?
Or was Charlie's shot THAT terrible?

That article just shows how low newspapers (or their online form) have become.

It doesn't really work for a game v Newcastle though, does it?Sean Dyche's Watch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 12:11 pmI thought it was 'from the North'. Have I been singing it incorrectly all these years?
I'd keep a Newcastle defenders shirt. If it was Ronaldo s I'd sell it. Would keep a rodon or Davies spurs shirt but sell kane.
So what shirts would we all refuse?
Probably only a Liverpool shirt for me. I'd have trouble accepting West ham, Salford, Real Madrid (except bale) or Watford. My dislike for West ham has mellowed a bit after their comedy pitch invasion.

Re: Charlie Taylor apology doesnt go down too well...
I would never refuse any players shirt as it would be on Ebay the following day.
Re: Charlie Taylor apology doesnt go down too well...
A lot of I'd refuse this shirt or that on the debate.
At the end of the day a player caused an inconvenience or slight injury/embarrassment to a fan totally by accident, and merely tried to apologise, not just verbally but with a small gift for the person to do what they like with.
To be verbally abused when offering either an apology or a gift to apologise isn't on, whether you're a footballer or just a man in the street.
Glad Charlie tried to do the right thing, as no doubt if he hadnt bothered at all, there would have been a bigger story trying to taint his character.
Glad our club is full of these types of characters.

Exactly. I’m sure everyone would much rather this be the story than, “Charlie doesn’t apologise”MACCA wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 7:54 pmA lot of I'd refuse this shirt or that on the debate.
