Happy Birthday Dad
He's no longer with us, he passed away over 32 years ago but today he would have been 100. I think it's making me feel old.

Re: Happy Birthday Dad
Thanks for that spades
But for my dad I would probably never have been a claret. I thought I'd celebrate today with a fig slice from Oddie's (he loved them) only to find they no longer do them. I went for his second choice, a vanilla slice.

Happy birthday Tony’s dad. I’m sure you’ll mark the occasion with a very nice cup of properly made tea!

CT you are only as old as you feel.Take and appreciate each new day as it comes. A few Burnley wins and you will feel like being 50 againClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 12:06 pmHe's no longer with us, he passed away over 32 years ago but today he would have been 100. Harry birthday to your Dad, Tony.
Just seen on Twitter that it would have been Harry Secombe's 100th birthday today too.

I was very unhappy about that. I loved an Oddie's sad cake.conyoviejo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:44 pmSadly,Oddies have stopped doing sad cakes as well, what's the world coming to!!
Re: Happy Birthday Dad
I once made a sad cake, wife was ill daughters birthday so I thought right let's make a cake dead easy. It was " a bit sad" to quote my daughter. One bit the candle slipped in, another bit the candle couldn't break the surface. Never again.conyoviejo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:44 pmSadly,Oddies have stopped doing sad cakes as well, what's the world coming to!!

My own dad also died 32 years ago in April. He would have been 100 last year.

Well done for celebrating your Dads 100th.I think very important that we all remember our loved ones in any way we choose so from me, Happy 100th Tony’s Dad. Incidentally I’ve never had a fig slice, now Bavarian slice and you’re talking.

Happy Birthday to your dad and all the memories and perspective that can bring you. My dad's birthday was 9/11/1908 so I have a little reminder to help me.

Tony, your dad was one of the nicest people I have ever met, he was a true gentleman.
He also had the opportunity to see the finest football ever played on Turf Moor, with our late 50's early 60's team. Not sure what he would have thought of the current style of play.

Re: Happy Birthday Dad
I don't think I know you but thanks very much for those kind words. He was a very quiet, unassuming man, nothing like his eldest son but much more like my brother. I always wonder what he'd have made of Sky TV, squad numbers etc. to be honest. He could never get his head round the fact Liverpool started giving the number 5 shirt to a midfielder.Vintage Claret 1946 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 1:52 pmTony, your dad was one of the nicest people I have ever met, he was a true gentleman.

Our passion and love for Burnley Football Club, and football & cricket in general, is one thing we had in common. He and my granddad (his dad) never missed the opportunity to watch a reserve or youth game and I've followed suit.

Re: Happy Birthday Dad
My dad died aged only 72 and would have been 100 next February.
His only interest in football was Burnley's result and his Littlewoods coupon.
My siblings and myselfs sporting interest came from my mum ( a Burnley born lass) who would have made 100 in January 2023.
It was actually my eldest brother who got me hooked as a Claret on my 7th birthday in 1960.

Re: Happy Birthday Dad
And a very happy birthday to my Dad, 77 years old today. Like many of us, my first game at The Turf was with my Dad, 26th April 1975 for a 0-0 v Stoke City and he is still a season ticket holder in the same Bob Lord stand we sat in for my very first game, over 46 years ago.
Happy birthday Dad.
Happy birthday Dad.
