So behave, thickneck.

Say where you're from or who you support to someone from down south and they'll instantly echo "Burnlehhhhhh."
It's Burnleh. Should be like that on the badge really.

Burnleh, I’m well aware that to those outside of the town, this is the incorrect way to pronounce the word, but I’ll change for no man!

Re: Burn-Lee or Burn-Leh
It's Burnleh when said in conversation.
For obvious reasons it's Burnlee when sung.
It's got me thinking though, which other clubs fans say and sing their names differently? Are there any?

Re: Burn-Lee or Burn-Leh
We sing Burn-Lee in the tradition of singing in American accents. It is pronounced Burn-leh. Like Colne is Kone and Bury not Berry. The Lancashire accents routes are Germanic… Angle and Saxon… stop bowing to the French pronunciation… what do they know.

Further to my previous post… Years ago my dad went out to the Angle district and said it was hilarious to hear Germans speaking in English but sounding like they’d all been taught in East Lancashire

Buurrnleh
I loved the accent of my Hassy family as a child.
Definitely first vowel elongated, second vowel clipped, for everything, including Buurrnleh.

All wrong I think, there is no "R" in the name at all when spoken .Maybe Buuhnlah, or Buuhnleh.

Re: Burn-Lee or Burn-Leh
The name Burnley is believed to have been derived from Brun Lea, meaning "meadow by the River Brun".[3] Various other spellings have been used: Bronley (1241), Brunley (1251) and commonly Brumleye (1294)[4]
