M65
Another death on it today.
A white Audi overturned and the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene,so sad .Never found it dangerous to drive on except the odd times it floods. This accident occurred during the early morning hours so maybe the lack of street lighting was a problem or just speeding.Whatever it's very sad to see so young a person who was just a passenger lose his/her life on a relatively deserted road at that time of day.

Re: M65
Is that why the junction was closed?
It's a pretty straight bit of road tbh, to flip a car there would take some doing.

Drove past on the West bound carriageway this morning. Car looked a right mess on it's roof in or around the middle lane, yet several trees appeared to be damaged that run parallel to the hard shoulder.

Don’t know the ins and outs of this particular story, but the way people drive on that roundabout leading up to the junction that was closed I am surprised there are not more fatalities.

Eastbound between 10 and 11/12.
Shock! horror! it’s dark at night, and to drive safely at night we need artificial lighting?
Course we don’t, otherwise every road in the country would be lit. When road conditions change, we change how we drive, same when the lighting changes. Doubtful the accident was caused by just one factor, it rarely is.

Re: M65
The lights in places have been switched off for some time at night. Same on the M66. Makes you wonder why lights were put there. Savings I expect to.pay for well... many things I don't agree with.

Re: M65
There are a hundred reasons accidents happen… narcolepsy, blow out etc. That are nothing to do with speed, it is possible the driver was flipped into the middle lane from pottering along the inside lane. Knee jerk judgements have little basis in truth.

I’d always urge people to be careful what they post on here when things like this happen as there’s always a good chance someone will know them if it’s on a local road.
A family member lost his partner on there a few years back and it was the worst experience I could imagine for him.

Re: M65
I live pretty close to that area of the motorway , albeit a river and field separate us, however we constantly hear activities like racing and fast driving from the motorway. It’s not a surprise, unfortunately, that so many accidents are happening on this stretch. Lack of lights don’t help but drive to the conditions. 70mph is a limit not a guide. If no lighting means you’ve to slow down to keep control then drive slower. I’m not saying I do but then I take responsibility for the risks not blaming the authorities for removing lighting.
