Music Thread - Long Tracks Only

I hope this will be a music thread with a difference. I want to hear the longer rock tracks from bands, mostly I guess from the musically fertile period of mid 1960s to mid 70s.

In this timespan new recording techniques and electronics, new or refined instruments, record companies willing to take risks and young talented individuals, perhaps helped by drugs and not restricted by having to have hit singles etc. but purely interested in music, led to an explosion of musical innovation, crossing genre boundaries of for example classical and jazz.

The only obvious limitations was the vinyl format, leading to a maximum recording of around twenty five minutes for one side. Of course live they could do any length.

The first track I offer is Pink Floyd - Echoes from their Meddle album:

This track starts with around eleven minutes of music, then three of ‘wierdness’ leading gently into more music. Some Floyd fans think this is the finest thing they’ve ever done. I think they’re nearly right! It's a fine achievement from four young lads.

To sum up, I don’t want hit singles on here but long album tracks. How long is ‘long’? I don’t know. It can be any genre from Floyd’s ‘prog rock’ to Taste/Rory Gallagher’s million notes a minute guitar stuff.

This 17 minute epic will surprise many. It's Curtain Call by The Damned. A million miles away from their early punk rock roots. They were talented and accomplished musicians. Dave Vanians vocal is , in my opinion,
reminiscent of but better than, the strong Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet.

I first listened to Alter Bridge last year after hearing them on a 30 day music challenge during the first lockdown.Absolutely brilliant and Myles Kennedy’s range is unreal.I have the Blu-ray of their royal Albert hall gig with a full orchestra.Marvellous.
