Burnley v Norwich: Match thread

Post by Paul Waine » Sat Oct 02, 2021 1:24 pm

Thought I'd open the match thread.

What's going on these days? No one has asked about streams?

Does Clarets+ have commentary for those who aren't at the game?

Big game today.

Some stats that Norwich haven't scored in 2nd half in Premier League for a long time.

Let's get an early goal and enjoy the game.

Early goal would be ideal today to calm the nerves on the pitch and in the stands.

Vital to get a win on the board before the international break.

Fingers crossed Vydra is fit enough to start. Believe Jay may also be fit.

All 23 goals conceded by Norwich this season have come in the second half.

Vydra fit and plays I believe although there could be a couple of surprise changes

I don't know where you got that info from, but it's patently false.

Both Leicester & Man City netted against them in the opening 10 minutes alone.

At a guess I’d say Pieters in for Taylor and Lennon instead of JBG. Anyhow we will find out soon.

Draw for Norwich is a good result but certainly not for us. Only a win will do

Still two keepers on the bench. Is this a sign that Nick is still not 100%?

Mrs Vino and I setting off for the Underground bar in about 15 mins: we are expecting a good turn out today, between 20 and 30 Clarets to watch the match. There’s a load of Burnley people on holiday here in Benalmádena so should be a good do. We need three points today so let’s have great support for the team at the Turf.

He looks a good one from what I've seen. 6'6" yet comfortable on the ball. One to watch.

I’m not a Lennon fan but I hope he is allowed to get forward and has the game of his life, creating loads of chances. Good to see Collins get a chance as well, come on you Clarets.

Still a strong line up for us.

I see Norwich are playing a 5-3-2 / 3-5-2 formation so our midfield and defence will need to be on form today.

Don’t mind that. In recent times we always seem to perform well against 3-5-2.

I thought Ben Mee looked a little down in his match preview video. Maybe not an injury but a heavy cold. He's got 2 youngsters, the older one may now be at nursery. There's a lot of bad colds around, particularly as no one was "out and about" last winter.

Get fit again soon, Ben Mee, whatever is ailing you.

Good luck Nathan Collins. Opportunity to make a claim on the shirt.

Why not "double cover" for the one position on the pitch that no other the other players would be best to cover? Injury to a keeper in the first few minutes.... it's not unheard of.

Seems a number of Premier League teams are picking 2 keepers on the bench out of 9 subs.

Exactly! and if we hadn't we'd be looking at Kev Long alongside Tarks.

Makes a welcome change that we have genuine quality to cover if one of our regulars is out.

Tarks skipper I assume?
