Agreed on the full backs being awful. Our attacks are too narrow. Didn’t do Lennon a favor at all. He needs to be attacking the full back from the outside. Completely pointless as a narrow midfielder. May as well have Brownhill there and Cork on if you’re going to play that way.

From TV

Pope 6
Lowton 6
Tarks 5
Collins 6
Taylor 5
McNeill 6
Westwood 6
Brownhill 6
Lennon 4
Vydra 8
Wood 6

Jay 5
JBG 5
Barnes 6

MOM: Vydra. Caused them problems consistently. It's not often a player should have been awarded three penalties in 30 odd minutes. He was the standout performer today. We didn't look threatening when he was forced off.

Nobody is playing badly but we need an injection of confidence, a stroke of luck or maybe just some competent refereeing. Most of these players are playing at the absolute limit of their ability too, which is why we're struggling to create chances.

Pope 5 poor kicking again nowt to do
Lowton 5 ok 1st half invisible 2nd
Collins 7 cool customer not exactly busy
Tarkowski 6 as Collins cool , but -1 awful pass
Taylor 6 good lead up play poor crossing
Lennon 5 the odd flash ,why is he not on the wing ?
Westwood 5 horrible corners ,slow , work ethic
Brownhill 5 no lack of effort but out of his depth
McNeil 5 the odd flash poor final balls lacks confidence
Vydra 6 lively but poor service
Wood 4 awful performance
Rodriguez 6 awful long ball service but good movement

We were awful against one of the weakest sides I’ve seen in yrs . Why oh why the long ball against this load of old mince ? Time and again we played long from deep mid to Jay vs 4 defenders .

If you (Newcastleclaret93) think Collins and, especially, Brownhill deserved 4s today it's helpful as it confirms you either don't watch the games or else you do but have absolutely no understanding of football.....or maybe only slightly more than Boysie who I see rated Brownhill 3.

Pope 7
Lowton 5
Tarkowski 7
Collins 7
Taylor 5....got into some great positions but didn't deliver the right ball or tried to cross too early
McNeill 6
Lennon 5
Westwood 6
Brownhill 8
Wood 5
Vydra 7
Jay 5
JBG 5

Other than Vydra running in behind early on our strikers were easily controlled by Norwich;s 3 CB. Once again our crossing was poor time and time again.

More to football than just crossing you know - if you know about football

Pope 6 couple of good saves but kicking shite.
Lowton 6 solid but not much forward.
Tarks 7 rock
Collins 7 impressive but needs to work on some 1v1 defending. We didn’t miss Mee too much which is a good compliment.
Taylor 6 good but he can’t cross.
Lennon 5 why so narrow? The two times he got wide and ran at them he put good crosses in which were dangerous. Does nothing playing in centre midfield half the time.
Brownhill 8 absolutely everywhere. Won a lot and seemed to hardly lose the ball. Good attacking energy as well.
Westwood 7 ran the game but couldn’t unlock the defence due to our slow and ponderous approach today.
McNeil 7 ran the game but he’s clearly not a winger. He ends up playing in the middle and does it well but can’t provide the width. Taylor was alone on the left today.
Wood 5 nothing to feed on but did **** all.
Vyds 6 good runs - get fit for games after international break please.
Jay 5 so slow. Did nothing.
JBG 6 our only good crosses today. Weird that Lennon was preferred after watching that.
Barnes 7 sharp when he came on.

Pope - 6 - Nothing rely to do
Lowton - 4 - Really poor. Under hit passes, missed tackles, no overlaps.
Collins - 6 - Solid
Tarky - 6 - Solid
Taylor - 4 - Can't cross for toffee. Never got to by-line.
Westwood - 5 - Sick of him doing that round the corner hook to no-one. Need an improvement.
Brownhill - 5 - Runs around. Need an improvement.
McNeil - 6 - Tried to do a bit. Needs to play a bit faster, hard when there's nothing up top.
Lennon - 4 - Should be nowhere near starting
Vydra - 6 - Looked most likely to do something. Maybe should have had a pen.
Wood - 5 - Never got involved

Jay - 5 - Same as Wood

A really poor performance. They were the worst team to have played on turf since we've been back in prem and we never laid a glove on them. Worrrying times.

Collins was eased of the ball that lead to them nearly scoring.

Taylor can’t cross, 12 crosses today not one of them even touched a Burnley player

Vydra given a four because he did very little against once of the worst teams in premier league history

You're the only one who thinks Collins had a bad game... Says it all

Taylor can cross, or have you not seen any other games

Vydra was our only attacking threat, should have had at least one pen.... Did you notice the difference in our attacking once he went off?

People are making it out like we dominated that game and should have won.

Norwich had the better chances. I can only think of one time in the whole match when Krul had to make a save.

Which ‘better chances’ did Norwich have exactly? Lowton’s header late on and McNeil’s from JBG’s cross were easily the chances of the match.

It’s not an exact science but according to the expected goals stats, Norwich had the better chances which supports my statement.

The biggest chance of the game was when Taylor cleared of the line when the Norwich player had the free header. The other ones were the free kick and a shot from distance. Arguably all better chances than anything we created

Krul made three that I can think of off the top of my head, ok one was off a defenders head, but still a save...... Serious question... We're you at the game?

Once again this thread has gone off topic because Newcastlecastle93 has posted ratings in anger straight after the game without any balance and made themselves look a bit silly.

It wasn’t a good performance and we didn’t create enough. The best chance of the game was undoubtedly McNeil’s at the back post from JBG’s cross followed by Lowton’s header from Brownhill’s cross.

Brownhill had an impressive game on the whole as the ratings reflect. We had 56% possession, 14 shots (4 on target to Norwich’s 2). Plenty of things to worry about but some of the ratings and comments are just absurd. How would you rate people if they gave 3 goals away?!

There was a lot that was worrying about today but to say Norwich had the better chances and Collins and Brownhill had poor games is even more worrying if you actually attended the game. As an aside I’m not a Brownhill fan generally but he was my motm today. He was everywhere but it had purpose.

Pope 6 Good at keeping goal, crap at kicking
Lowton 6 dwells to longon the ball
Tarks 7 Did okay alongside his new sidekick
Collins 7 Settled well, I feel will go on to be a real assett
Taylor 5 Made some great runs only to finish with some of the worst crosses possible
McNeill 8 Mom Worked hard and tried to keep probing at their defence when no one else seemed capable, should have done better with his
chance at the far post though
Westwood 6 Worked hard but no quality to his distribution or dead ball kicks
Brownhill 6 Like Westy worked hard without much of an end result
Lennon 3 A joke selection ( borne out by his inept performance) by a manager who obviously has just signed a four year extension and must not
have a relegation clause in it
Vydra 8 Caused them problems with his movement, ad how was the penalty not given by that jerk off Friend
Wood 5 Looked lacklustre and way off the pace

Jay 5 Meh
JBG 5 Meh
Barnes 6 Looked livelier today than previous appearances

Dyche 2 woeful management by him and his team, so tatically inept, that was as turgid a football match as I`ve seen in years and there has been some crap, but against a team yet to get a point, deary me.

Pope 6
Lowton 4 Heart in mouth first half especially
Taylor 4 Worst game for some time. Awful crossing
Tarks 6
Collins 7 was really worried after the Newcastle game, but looked comfortable today
Brownhill 8 Really enjoyed watching him today. All the usual work rate and breaking things down, plus a real desire to get into spaces ahead of the ball
Westwood 6
McNeil 6 SPEND THE NEXT 3 WEEKS JUST PRACTISING USING YOUR RIGHT FOOT
Lennon 5 I think he gets a bit of undeserved stick, but clearly a mistake starting him today
Vydra 7 Poor lad. If he hadn't been assaulted I'm sure he would have scored or created the winner today
Wood 4 Back to the Wood that drove me up the wall 18 months ago

JRod 4
JBG 7 Made us look like an actual attacking threat
Barnes 5

Some very bizarre scores on here (probably mine included), but low scores for Brownhill just show the bias that exists

Pope 7 didn’t do anything wrong
Lowton 5 not his usual form, would like to see this chap pie Roberts
Tarks 7 did what he had to do
Collins 7 impressed with his performance
Taylor 5 I’m a fan but think he is having a poor season
Lennon 3 can’t believe he is still a Burnley player
Brownhill 7 worked hard today but not much going forward
Westwood 4, I’ve never seen a midfielder give the ball away as much, needs upgrading (Cork?)
McNeil 6 good in bits today, little bits, if Cornet is going to play wide left I would play him in midfield
Wood 6 I don’t think he’s recovered from the summer Olympics
Vydra 7 good whilst on the pitch before injury

Jay 5 he just doesn’t seem interested, mind you there is little quality service
JBG 6 at least he got a couple of crosses in, but is so predictable in this so-called framework
Barnes 4 not certain what he offers now

Pope 5 - his kicking really, really needs sorting. Almost cost us another goal

Lowton 4 - not for me
Collins 7 - did well but he’ll have far tougher tests
Tarkowski 6 - cigar out a bit too often for me
Taylor 5- wasted opportunity after opportunity. Got up there at least

Lennon 4 - worst fear coming true when we signed him. He’s ended up starting games and nowhere near the required standard
Brownhill 7 - best game in a while. Good, purposeful passing.
Westwood 5 - can play some good piercing balls but loses it far too much
McNeil 6 - desperately need his creativity but he seem to be tying himself in knots today
Vydra 7 - constantly a threat. We win the game if he stays on, was giving the defence a torrid time
Wood 4 - doesn’t look himself at all

Rodriguez 5 - made a nuisance of himself.
JBG 4 - nothing much.

Desperately poor against a desperate side. Dyche is looking out of ideas at the moment.

Where on earth is the win going to come from. Norwich are by far the most limited side I've seen in the PL, but the ref today did his best to get them something.

Pope-6
Lowton-6
Tarkowski-7
Collins-7 looks decent
Taylor-6
Lennon-6
Westwood-4
Brownhill-4 not good enough for this level. Lot of endeavour but no quality every game is a cup game
McNeil-4 so frustrating
Wood-6 no service
Vydra-6 not fit and no service

We are slow and predictable but it’s nobodies fault just reached a natural level. We will play Norwich in the championship next season

I must have been watching a diferent game. It was Collins's first PL start for us. Not that many positives for us but his performance I thought was very good. For me a 7 or 8. Very composed, good in the air and distribution, and read the game very well

His player's
His team
His tactics
Unfortunately the boards money . SD has performed miracles keeping us competitive, especially last season . It’s not so much the players it’s the old board giving him Nothing for 2 years and therefore no building or improvement . We simply have not had the money for a good midfielder .That said playing long ball today against garbage was a disgrace IMO

You think that pal.

The fact you have given any of our player above a 6 shows you know absolutely nothing about football.
Thats rich coming form you.

Nope I just don’t wear claret tinted glasses.

We managed four shots on target against a team that has conceded on average over 3 goals a game this season

Pope 7-one outstanding save and was an effective "sweeper"
Lowton 6-some good things, but slow on the ball and got blocked a number of times when in possession
Tarks 8-I think he is a better captain than Ben. He barks more and issues instructions well. Defended well
Collins 8-really impressed me, showing composure and reading of the game
Taylor got into some great positions but some shocking deliveries into the penalty area
Lennon 4-totally outmuscled. Not up to it
Brownhil 7-good performance. Got very involved after recent criticism. Distribution better
Westwood 7, looked good on the ball. Needs to stop giving away blatant fouls and needs to keep his gob closed. He must surely be suspended soon with his yellow cards
McNeil 6-so one footed its untrue. Cut in a few times and rather than shoot with his right just ended up gifting it to them
Vydra 7-he got battered but looked a threat and did so much running
Wood 6-posed no threat. Hanley had him in his pocket
Rodriguez 5-whats happened to this guy. One good chance and he didn't even connect
JBG-5. Any attack stops when it gets to him. Any average full back has just to ensure he does not cut in. Absolutely no pace

I thought we played quite well until we reached the last third of the pitch. From there we were predictable, and lacked any guile or imagination. Combine that with refereeing as poor as I can remember and you have a perfect mix for a frustrating afternoon.

Pope 6-One really good save and some good handling but his distribution appears to be going backwards.
Lowton 7-Thought he was solid, be better if he had someone in front of him who he could work in tandem with.
Collins 7-A good solid debut. Best thing I can say is we didn't miss Mee.
Tarkowski 7-Thought the early booking would affect his combative style but it didn't.
Taylor 5-Not quite sure whats happened to Charlie but he's poor at present.
Lennon 4-Not quite sure what he's offering to the team.
Brownhill 7-Thought he played well, did some runs into advance positions and was always quite lively.
Westwood 6-Can't criticise his work rate but something appears to be missing and not quite sure what it is.
McNeil 7-Again he played well but at times over thinks or dwells on the ball for too long.
Vydra 7-Pity he got injured as he looked to have the pace to undo the Norwich defence.
Wood 5- Predominately marked out of the game and no surprise when he was hooked.

Pope 6 clean sheet more woeful kicking
Lowton 7 did ok.
Tarkowski 7 played well
Collins 8 one bright part of the afternoon
Taylor 5 his crossing is woeful and seems to get worse every game.
Lennon 4 another inept performance.
Westwood 5 no composure
Brownhill 5 no composure
McNeil 6 tried to make something happen
Vydra 5 clearly not fit.
Wood 4 offered nothing

Subs

Rodriguez 6 tried to make something happen
Gudmundsson 5 the constant check back after he tried and failed to beat the fullback on the outside.
Barnes 6 did well when he came on.

A dreadful performance with slow and predictable build up and yet another opposition keeper who hasn’t made a meaningful save. Our lack of goals from open play is ridiculous.
