Re: BOND
Bond film was good. Some stunning special effects and spectacular locations as you would expect.
The young woman next to me was sobbing at the end.

Re: BOND
I must admit I didn’t find the new baddie played by Rami Malek in the least bit scary or even very dislikeable, unlike those played by Javier Bardem as Raoul Silva or Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre.

My neighbour Martyn Craven was the motor cycle stunt man in the scenes with the DB5. But not the bike rider who jumped the steps and wall. He’s been waiting 2 years to see his name at the end of the film.

At least those of us that have seen it will probably know why it took the direction it did... not only am i disappointed by the film, i'm disappointed by how the franchise has surrendered to the woke brigade.

Just goe to prove the whole moniker and double 0 status of the character can be assigned to anyone, because there will be another actor playing Bond.

Re: BOND
A great Bond film trashed by the end and the desire to chase woke pound.
Yes I'll get brick bats for that on here but sometimes everyone needs just a bit of escapism now and again to drag us out of our normal day to day where the norm is to be offended on someone's behalf
The end of every James Bond film states "Bond Will Be Back" not "007 Will Be Back"
Anyway let's see how we go from here.

Re: BOND
Was a 5/10 for me. Some decent stuff on a personal level with Bond and a couple of decent set pieces but the plot, the "villain" and the whole final denouement felt forced and weak to me.
I actually think it's not much better than Quantum

Re: BOND
It says the same thing that every Bond film says after the end credits.
Thought this was poor, only really liked Casino Royale of the DC lot.
Bond is in serious need of a reboot. Hope they can take it in an interesting direction and bring back some of the camp elements of the older ones. For me the Mission Impossible series overtook Bond a long time ago as the go-to action spy thriller.

I thought the casino royale reboot was excellent but it’s gone stale for me. Quantum wasn’t great and this is easily the worst of the DC films.claret2018 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 10:30 amIt says the same thing that every Bond film says after the end credits.

The Jason bourne films have surpassed bond for me. Anyway, I’ll try again this afternoon as I don’t work Mondays.

Re: BOND
Agreed, it felt stale from QoS.
I hope they go for a left-field choice next time, someone young and different with a sense of humour. Would like to see a return to wacky villains and gadgets rather than the po-faced dreary last few films.

007 is named after the number 007 National Express bus whose route London to Dover.
Ian Fleming lived locally in Kent and there is a plaque on the wall of The Duck pub in Pett Bottom that says 'You Only Live twice' was written there.
In actual fact I am probably the real James Bond although I don't have a license to kill nor am I employed by the security services.
The proof is The Unifying Theory of Art which is the only possible saviour ideologically of The West and forever and can be the only foundation of any notion of 'multiculturalism', since the 2D data field is the base of all visual culture.
The fact that it has been damned by the establishment for over a decade, puts in context the world war that is going on, ideologically.

Re: BOND
It’s decent enough as a big budget action film ,it’s a bit on the long side ,though quite enjoyed the villain .Yes we know Bond is a dinosaur but instead of smirking along with him , it’s almost as if the “ homage lines “ are delivered as a nudge nudge almost embarrasment rather than the comforting embrace of the Bond character . They’ve smoothed the edges of Bond to further “ woke him up “ . And the film
Ultimately could have just starred Nicolas Cage and been called “ killer uzi b1tches”. I thought Casino Royal and Skyfall were better but it’s a 6.5-7 /10 and a decent romp

Saw it last night. Thought it was decent viewing, as any Daniel Craig Bond film is although probably more personal to Bond this time.

Re: BOND
Just back from seeing it now and I have to say I’m a bit nonplussed by it.
Rami Malek suffered from standard ‘**** villain’ syndrome and the third act if I’m honest perplexed me with his actions once he’d reeled off his standard monologue.
I didn’t think the woke element really was too forced and if anything thought it was a shame to see so little of Ana de Armas’ Paloma, both because she was a great strong female character and beautiful too.
The main ‘twist’ was thoughtfully spoiled by some mouth breather on Facebook at the weekend, although I saw it coming from both nods to a previous JB film, and Hollywood’s new cliche ‘surprise ending’
Casino Royale was great as it took on board the success of the realism of the Bourne films, alas everything after (Skyfall aside) reverted to modus operandi silliness, shite villains and cardboard cutout ‘Bond is impervious to gunfire’ shoutouts and car chases.
I look forward to whatever they can come up with to shake it up, which for me does include a black Bond - my selection being Chiwetel Ejiofor (marvel-lous actor).

Re: BOND
A couple of people mentioned the Bourne films. I loved the first two but all the others were increasingly repetitive....flashbacks to what had happened before like we had forgotten....and that same piece of music was done to death.
Let’s hope the next Bond is as good as Daniel Craig and hopefully not a woman.

Re: BOND
Went to watch it last night and enjoyed it. Since it was Daniel Craig's last appearance I was expecting something different at the end and was not disappointed. A touch of sadness at his leaving though as he has been a great 007. Some nice touches on the special effects and the black Miss Funnyfanny was lovely. Not sure if the new 007 is going to be the one introduced in the film though.
Quick question: Was "Q" in Paddington Bear because his voice seemed to ring a bell?

Re: BOND
I think it's fairly safe to say that this 'franchise' version of Bond (I.e. the Daniel Craig bonds) is done and the next will be a relaunch. Also I thought the contrived portrayal of the female 007 backfired, given she failed 2/3 of her missions, was pretty petulant in her position and eventually seemed to be the only one bothered about the 007 moniker.
Fresh start, fresh ideas and back to realism please. A bit of Timothy Dalton style wouldnt go amiss to me.
