Squid Games
On Netflix.
A Korean dystopian series that's got me hooked.
No plot give aways or spoilers here, just a high recommendation. Check it out.

Re: Squid Games
With something like this you have the Olde To Gorge or To Savour dilemma.
We're going down the rationing root. Rumours of the inevitable 2nd series. Hope that doesn't lead to diminishing returns. Really enjoying it though. We're on Episode 4 this evening.

It’s a bit of a hidden genre on Netflix but there are some very similar tv series to this. All very very goodRingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 12:00 pmWith something like this you have the Olde To Gorge or To Savour dilemma.

Enjoyed it too - I’ll also recommend Midnight Mass. It’s by the guy who did Haunting of Hill House/Bly Manor. A really good horror series set on a remote island, I won’t give anything away but it takes three or four episodes before it reveals itself!

Re: Squid Games
Although the general story and ideas are good, personally after watching two episodes am really struggling with the dubbing.
I wouldn't want to watch with subtitles, but you'd think they'd use more appropriate accents for the actors?
However very much like to watch something different - with soo much TV made, a lot can seem very similar, which this definitely isn't!

Re: Squid Games
I find the dubbing for Korean TV doesn't do the show justice. Since lockdown watched a lot of Korean shows on Netflix and they tend to always be in the top 10 every week here, most of them quite good.pompeyclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 10:21 amAlthough the general story and ideas are good, personally after watching two episodes am really struggling with the dubbing.

Re: Squid Games
Is it like the film Battle Royale but just a modern version with adults playing the games? It sounds like the same thing more or less.
Remember Battle Royale well and that is quality.

There’s hints of Battle Royale in the first episode but it goes in different directions. BR is much better!diamondpocket wrote: ↑Wed Oct 06, 2021 9:01 amIs it like the film Battle Royale but just a modern version with adults playing the games? It sounds like the same thing more or less.
