Tannoy and The Large Screen
Started a new thread for this topic, as it didn’t seem the right thing to add it into the Tribute thread.
Is anything ever going to be sorted regarding the big screen placement, you can’t see the one that’s there in the Longside Upper (as I call it) and it’s time the second one was in place. Also the Tannoy system we have is diabolical, it’s been poor for a long time but I couldn’t hear anything clearly that was announced on Saturday - gawd help us if they had an emergency or something important to say.
Simple things to put right surely??

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
The tannoy is clearer in the toilets than anywhere. Even then it keeps cutting out. Went to a do at the centre spot a year or two back and the sound system is appalling in there as well.

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
The PA system has been terrible for a few years now. The club have said they’re looking into it, but they’re clearly not.
When Heroes came on the other day, it sounded like it was playing in a car, three blocks away with all its windows up!

Yeah you can barely hear anything on the Longside - certainly worse than it used to be. Needs sorting especially if there was an emergency.
Also enjoyed only one entrance being open for Entrance K ST holders this week and the bottleneck coming off to go down the path next to the cricket ground is unsafe frankly.

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
the new ‘curved’ screen (smaller than the existing corner screen) in corner between Bob Lord + Jimmy Mac stands will be installed this November!
Followed later (no date specified) by large curved screen replacing existing one between North Stand + Jimmy Mac.
…sitting in North Stand Upper means I haven’t been able to view screen since it was positioned centrally in Cricket Field stand approx 2010!

It is my understanding that there is a separate system for emergency or evacuation announcements, which is much louder and clearer. It certainly was when the 'friendly' game against Hannover was abandoned.Eloise Laws wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 7:36 amgawd help us if they had an emergency or something important to say.

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
I tend to arrive at the ground around 30 minutes prior to kick off, and I too noticed that one of the turnstiles for Entrance K was closed, which I thought was very odd, given recent observations.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:19 am

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
The screen is not visible from large parts of JMU either.
Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
Maybe they should get another emergency system as use it as the regular one then!Sean Dyche's Watch wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:25 amIt is my understanding that there is a separate system for emergency or evacuation announcements, which is much louder and clearer. Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
The Tannoy seemed better on Saturday NU3 .... it was turned down a bit and that removed most of the distortion ... Still requires an upgrade though

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
L (3 turnstiles open to K’s 1) was so clear I just decided to try it. There was no risk because there was no queue and a huge one at K. Worked fine for me and a fair few others who followed suit.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 10:29 amWe were going to chance this but heard one guy’s card didn’t scan and had to queue up twice so lord knows
The guy you saw may’ve picked up the wrong Season card??
Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
Problem is there are still a few NL fans try to get in Turnstile L instead of going to Turnstile M ... the Club removed the boards stating upper and lower tiers which for some reason has confused a few (probably new ones to the North Stand) but we haven't had any problems going in turnstile L even though our new card states turnstile K ... reckon thats why the queues are less ... its the clubs fault if they have put K on all the season cards if you can use any NU turnstile ...Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 10:29 amWe were going to chance this but heard one guy’s card didn’t scan and had to queue up twice so lord knows

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
Another issue with the ground is the rusty roofs of the Jimmy Mac and the longside. I sit in the Jimmy mac lower and was getting dripped on throughout the game through the rusty holes in the roof! Never had the issue at any other ground. It is like we are a non league side struggling to pay the bills at times.

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
out of interest, what are they like at stadiums like Arsenal and the new Spurs ground ?
Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
The ground is generally grotty.
To add to what has already been mentioned -
The surface around the pitch is a right state. The weird old orange astro-turf looking thing. It's uneven, cracked, faded. Needs ripping up and replaced.
The ground has umpteen different shades of claret. It might seem trivial but it makes the the ground just look a bit scruffy.
And, come on, give the roofs and the sides of the stands a wash! Or replace them, the sides especially, with something which isn't gunna look so minging.

You probably need to report it. I’m not sure how they’d know otherwise.thelaughingclaret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 7:33 pmAnother issue with the ground is the rusty roofs of the Jimmy Mac and the longside. Not having upper and lower is frankly appalling.Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 7:14 pmProblem is there are still a few NL fans try to get in Turnstile L instead of going to Turnstile M ... the Club removed the boards stating upper and lower tiers which for some reason has confused a few (probably new ones to the North Stand) but we haven't had any problems going in turnstile L even though our new card states turnstile K ... reckon thats why the queues are less ... its the clubs fault if they have put K on all the season cards if you can use any NU turnstile ...
The queries in some are so long, that you try the others but can't see the join!

Re: Tannoy and The Large Screen
Sound in Bob Lord is so bad that I wonder if the speakers there are even working. It just sounds like I am hearing sound from the speakers in the other stands. It will cost a lot to install a system that can cope with the amount of air space within the stands but that money definitely needs spending. As someone posted above, turning it up and making it louder is not the answer as it will just distort more.
Also, the “music” played as the players come out is just an awful wall of sound and does nothing to raise the excitement or anticipation ahead of the game.
