Referee Andorra v England
Andorra v England: All-female team of officials to take charge of World Cup qualifier
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58826263
An all-female team of on-field officials will take charge of Saturday's World Cup qualifier between Andorra and England.
Ukraine's Kateryna Monzul will be the referee while compatriots Maryna Striletska and Svitlana Grushko have been named her assistants.
In addition, Stephanie Frappart of France is the video assistant referee.
It will be the first time a senior England men's international match has had all women officials.
Two men are part of the wider officiating team, with Denys Shurman the fourth official and Viktor Matyash the assistant VAR.
Monzul, 40, also refereed the Nations League match between San Marino and Gibraltar last year, the first time an all-female refereeing team had taken charge of a senior men's international.
In 2016, she became the first woman to officiate a men's top division match in in Ukraine and has refereed at Women's World Cups and European Championships.
***************************
This sounds like a positive development. I wonder if it will help the players show a little more respect to the referee, as they do in rugby and cricket?

Good to see, if they are good enough. I would have preferred them to Kevin friend last week.

Sounds like they must be better than that biased, cheating, b'tard of last week and many times before, as Friend but not of Burnley.

This very upset Millwall fan doesn't think much of Mr Friend either. A terrific rant but see 2mins.40 secs particularly

Pity they didn’t give her a decent competitive game , though if it encourages more women into reffing that’s a good thing . Surprised the bird who runs the line in prem and has done for yrs hasn’t had a go at the main job as always thought she’s been pretty decent ie invisible when running the line .

Crack on...... time for change!!!
The refs we’ve had on the Turf recently have been useless.

I'm all for it. But I do worry what it will look like if footballers continue to behave like footballers...

Sian Massey Ellis struggled with offsides previously, even more so now.

Re: Referee Andorra v England
It should always be a question of ability not sex, colour, race.
There absolutely no technical reason there cannot be female refs and accompanying staff.
Can’t be any worse than the shower of male refs we have.
Hopefully these women don’t take any sh*t from these gobsh*tes. Would be great to see more emphasis placed on cautions for abusive dissent.

If the football pitch is similar to our house, where Mrs Aclaret is in control,( I've had many yellow cards but thankfully no red ) then it should be a fair match with only 1 winner....the ref.

Can’t say I’ve been that impressed with the ref. A few of the cards given were soft and she’s missed a certain red for one of their players.

Re: Referee Andorra v England
I thought she did very well
Was always up with play and the yellows were given to players who got involved with scuffles
Far better than Ftiend and some of the other very poor referees we have on the Premier League and the EFL

Over the top with some yellows when all that was needed was a quick word. She bottled a clear second yellow after the Andorra player had elbowed Coady.

Nothing really to report, had a steady game.
The real litmus test is reffing a match involving the Eyeties.

Actually I didn't think that was a foul, to me it looked like the San Marino chap did his best to keep his elbow down.

Re: Referee Andorra v England
I too, think the ANDORRA player did his best to keep his elbow within his body profile. Elbows are attached to the body so they have to go somewhere! It looked like Coady made a meal of it as most top level players do, trying to gain the referees sympathy, if not for now, then later should another incident take place.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 10:42 pmActually I didn't think that was a foul, to me it looked like the San Marino chap did his best to keep his elbow down.

A very competent referee. Andorra were rough and ready and she managed the trouble well.

Agreed SLe ... I for one cannot see why some are saying she was s**te just because she is a wonan ... she handled the match very competently and didn't accept any nonsense.SouthLondonexile wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 1:20 pmA very competent referee.
