Troy Deeney On Sean Dyche
Troy Deeney On Sean Dyche
Troy Deeney on Nihal’s show (promoting his new book)
Nihal asked Troy what Sean Dyche was like. He basically said Dyche turned his career around and made him into the professional he now is. He said he wouldn’t hear a bad word said about him (Dyche).
I didn’t know Dyche had such a big impact on Deeneys career and life.
Deeney has done some daft stuff but fair play to him for turning his life around and having a fantastic career

Dyche is obviously a good man,we are lucky to have him at our club,I don't understand the posters on here who want him gone,I hope he stays with us for many years to come.

Dyche treats players as adults and with respect. I’ve had a boss like that and also had one the opposite. I know which one had the best influence on me and which one I still speak highly of.

The greatest accolade for a manager is when you are cited as someone who helped another progress.

Had Deeney followed Sean from Watford (I believe Sean tried a few times to get him) he would have become a Clarets Legend ...
As Ian McL said "there is no greater praise for a manager ... than from one who he helped progress"

Re: Troy Deeney On Sean Dyche
I have mentioned this before but one of my neighbours is an ex Watford player. He saw my shirt and chatted football. Sean Dyche was my coach at Watford, both youth teams and first team. I asked for his opinion on Sean.
The best Manager and the best person I have ever worked for was his response. He needed some help and a contact for something he is involved in and he had phoned Sean a couple of weeks before. Sean helped him out. That's the sort of bloke he is. He keeps in touch with former players, what he has done at your club is incredible but it doesn't surprise me.
He really couldn't speak highly enough of the gaffer.

I spent 22 years in the army, and in all that time I have worked for all kinds of leaders… some were such men that I would’ve followed em into the very bowels of hell, and some were such men that I wouldn’t have followed them in a conga.
I strongly suspect Dyche would be in the former group having witnessed what he gets out of his players.

Didn’t he help Deeney around the time he was sentenced to a few months in jail? He would have been a great signing in 2014.

Do you know if we came close to meeting their valuation? Would have been a top signing back thenClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 7:47 pmWe were trying to sign him in 2014 after the first promotion.
Re: Troy Deeney On Sean Dyche

Re: Troy Deeney On Sean Dyche
There was someone on the message who knew what was going on but I'm sure the deal had just about been agreed but then Leeds sold Ross McCormack with the transfer fee wildly exaggerated and suddenly fees went up. It seems Watford increased their demands and the deal was scrapped.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 3:45 pmDo you know if we came close to meeting their valuation? Re: Troy Deeney On Sean Dyche
My recollection is we were some way short of their valuation, we bid 6m or 7m and they wanted 11m or 12m and Leicester bid 11m or 12m and Watford still wouldn't sell.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 5:25 pmThere was someone on the message who knew what was going on but I'm sure the deal had just about been agreed but then Leeds sold Ross McCormack with the transfer fee wildly exaggerated and suddenly fees went up. Who would have been our strikers " back then" Tony ? Would he have been a big improvement ?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 5:59 pmHe'd have been excellent for us back then had we been able to get him but he's not offered too much at Watford in more recent seasons.

Not wishing to be 'Devils Advocate', but Coyle was also highly respected by his squad I believe?
Great that Dyche earns such plaudits, but there are a few players who would say he did nothing to progress their careers. I believe he is the best man for us, but let's not make Dyche out to be some sort of Messiah.

Took a pondering Championship club to the Europa League on less than peanuts.
And has had us in the Premier League just one less season than we were in Division 4. Mind blowing.

I've worked for some fantastic ,inspirational bosses ,however I'd draw the line at following them into the Bee Hole end bogs..bobinho wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 8:08 pmI spent 22 years in the army, and in all that time I have worked for all kinds of leaders… some were such men that I would’ve followed em into the very bowels of hell, and some were such men that I wouldn’t have followed them in a conga.
