Thirty years ago today, hard to believe it's that long ago, but an amazing day out at Wrexham.

I found myself inadvertently sat next to Rocky for that game, I don't think my hearing has ever recovered.

What a day.

I took my next door neighbour to the game. He sadly passed away in 2013 but hard to believe we had our first away trip thirty years ago. And I was nowhere near Rocky thankfully.

What happened to Graham Lancashire’s career? I know he did my sister’s garden a few years ago and then got a job with BFC but I don’t know what that was. I met him once at my sister’s and he seemed a grand bloke who didn’t have anything wrong to say about Burnley. I always thought we missed a trick with him not being brought on in the later stages at Wembley against Stockport. Their defence was tiring and fresh legs and an eye for goal would have made the game safe.

I think his eye for goal left him not long after the match the thread is about!

I remember being at the Fenny fold on this Saturday watching the local football.
I walked past the changing hut with other kids that had the radio on. We couldn't believe it when it was announced Burnley were winning 2-1 after just 5 minutes.

I'd forgotten he was on the bench for the play off final or even still at the club. He can't have played many games between the Wrexham game and Wembley

I think I recall him coming on the day we clinched the play offs and missing an absolute sitter from a few yards out.

Wrexham was his third start for us

His record in the league

1990/01 0+1 apps 0 goals
1991/92 9+16 apps 8 goals
1992/93 2+1 apps 0 goals
1993/94 0+1 apps 0 goals
1994/95 0+1 apps 0 goals

There was another league goal v Aldershot which was expunged. His 8th came exactly one month after his first.

There was a brief time where we thought we might have a real star coming through. Looking back, I think it was the poor level we were playing at back then.

Another coincidence, the same channel on YouTube that uploaded the Carlisle game at home that coincided with the article on here a week or so ago has uploaded the second half of this game a couple of days ago. Burnley fans in good voice throughout.

After only 1 minute of the 2nd half Pender should be sent off.

My dad used to pay big money to sit in vice presidents. He got 2 tickets for directors box for this game. We turned up and there was a try of warm lager cans.

Sat in the stand after the goals started flying watching the Burnley end goung mad he turned to me and said we were always in the away end from now on.

I took my ex wife and three children to this game. We were so elated afterwards that I suggested that instead of returning home to Shropshire we should go onto Blackpool and book a B and B for the evening and have a day in Blackpool following day. We had no washing stuff or spare clothes but didn’t care about that. Brilliant afternoon followed by nice mini break in Blackpool. Good times.

A real wincer of a two footer on Gordon Davies. Agreed, he should've walked for that. Pender's reaction when he realised it was yellow said as much.

Thinking back on the game our defence looked very vulnerable at times but fortunately theirs was in a far worse state. The goal from Graham Lancashire down the other end where he scored on the half turn was a cracking goal and gave me great hopes that we had found a gem of a striker in our ranks.

Flash in the pan, get Dobbo in to tighten up the back line.
Disaster waiting to happen otherwise.

It's almost as if the ref hadn't read the guidance issued in the past few years.

Even in 1992 you couldn't just jump in the air to get extra momentum to take someone out.
No thoughts about the ball at all.

Before the match asked a copper if ok to park in a culdisac opposite the ground……he said it was ok……

Came back after the match to find some smug traffic warden had booked every car parked there- mostly from Burnley!!

Never mind, just part of life’s rich tapestry….

An absolutely brilliant day out and one which has always lived long in the memory. We'd struggled in the first few games and Casper had paid the price and I was fuming when Mullen was put in charge and potentially could land the job because he didn't seem in any way to even be the "safe" option (far from it!) but he did seem the cheapskate option!! That day at Wrexham however, everything changed and to me it seemed to be the start of the juggernaut which simply blew the rest of the division away and Mullen went from zero to cult status in basically 90 minutes. Weird how for Lancashire who was brilliant that day, it never really got any better.

Graham Lancashire is now assistant manager at Lancaster City. I assume it's the same one.

He is along with Rob Henry who played in our youth team around the same time as Chris McCann.
