Points in our next 4 games
It certainly doesn't get any easier does it.
City (a) 0
Southampton (a) 3
Brentford (H) 1
Chelsea (a) 0
That's the next quartet of fixtures before the next international break, hard to see anything at City or Chelsea, so we'll really need to net at least 4 points from the Southampton & Brentford matches.
I fancy us to get our 1st win at St Mary's, don't ask me why just a hunch, we've got a pretty decent record there, and Saints form is nearly as bad as ours over the past several months.
I'd be reasonably content with 4 points, win at Southampton, draw against Brentford, delighted with 6 from those 2 games, which if we hit the 1st half heights of Leicester we could well rack up, if we pick any points up from the away trips to the Etihad or Stamford Bridge that would be a huge bonus, but that would be unexpected even by the most optimistic fan.

If we can get vyds and Max up and running. Get that Leicester first half performance out a few times we’play be absolutely fine.

Predicting us to not win, based on our form, is far more sensible than predicting wins.

Re: Points in our next 4 games
There’s no pretending about it that’s what I think and that’s what we will get. Why would I predict us to get anything from 4 very difficult games ?
City & Chelsea I think most people will say 0.
Southampton we have a chance but I still think we will get beat.
Brentford if they carry on the way they are will crucify us. They went toe to toe with Liverpool. If we tried to do that we would get beat about 5-0.
Why am not being real when we haven’t won a game yet and have shown no real signs we are going to.

Re: Points in our next 4 games
For all who are predicting gloom. Did you not witness the uplift when Cornet played? The way he affected the others. His link up play with Vyds. Have you not seen the way we have played generally? It’s not been that bad overall. If we play as we did against Leicester (and even most of the game against Everton) and Leeds we will pick up points. Not too hopeful at City but we have a decent record at Chelsea (although they are playing very well) and the other two are up for grabs. Have faith.

We haven't won a game at home since January 27th. We last won league games ago. We've won 4 in our last 25 league games.

Re: Points in our next 4 games
Good post houseboy, I'll be staggered if we emerge pointless from these 4 games, and it's not as if we're being hammered every week is it, even our reverses have been by narrow margins, or late in games. Yes we aren't winning, but equally we have drawn our last 2 PL games, so I don't understand people writing off games against the likes of Brentford or Southampton, and if we hadn't conceded those late equalisers against Leeds and Leicester we'd be sat mid-table.houseboy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 6:47 pmFor all who are predicting gloom. Some good points there houseboy however based on the last 9 months it’s difficult to see where we get win from the next four games.houseboy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 6:47 pmFor all who are predicting gloom. City and Chelsea there is absolutely no chance we get anything from either.
Southampton we have to target as a big three points.
Based on current form I don’t think we stand much chance against Brentford.
Somewhere between 1-3 points is probably realistic

Re: Points in our next 4 games
True! it's not the losses which hurt, more the dropping of leads to turn possible wins into draws, and this is what we need to stem and quickly.
Frustrating that we've let slip leads to Brighton, Leeds & Leicester in the final 20 minutes, and we should be sat on more than the 3 points we currently have, however it's one thing talking about it, it's quite another to solve this particular issue, but solve it we must, otherwise the Championship beckons next season I'm afraid.

Re: Points in our next 4 games
I'd take four right now... in fact, i'd snap your hand off.
I'd like to think we could beat Soton in their current form... but the way our luck has been running, who knows what we will end up with.
So i'll guess at two.

Re: Points in our next 4 games
I think a lot of fans, myself included are hoping Cornet can inspire
the team to better performances and more importantly better results
than we've had to date.To a certain extent Vyds and in particular Wood
to also do the business.
Alongside the above we'd also need the defence and midfield to perform
well, if not better than they have done so far as the teams we are playing
in the next four will create chances against us and probably a good many of them.
It's a tall order and maybe expecting too much too quickly.
I'm hoping performances improve and we score a few more goals.
Enough to get us our first win on the table and possibly another point too.
So. I'm hoping for 3 or 4 points from the next four.
Six would be better (wins against Southampton and Brentford)
One can but hope.......and pray.

For those predicting wins, let me remind you we’ve won one league game at home this calendar year, and it’s mid October. One. We’re going down this season, without a doubt.

Genuinely believe we can beat Southampton and Brentford and nick a point from Chelsea.
Hope City have one of their no scoring days but I doubt it.

Re: Points in our next 4 games
It’s very difficult to predict I said 2 last time I’m pretty sure 3 happened, from them 4 even though it looks tough I think the team are more than capable of providing a shock result & losing against a lesser team on paper, so I’ll say 4 this time beat city or Chelsea & a draw against Brentford or Southampton.
Re: Points in our next 4 games
I suppose it's fair to say that we won't win more than one home game in these four fixtures.claret2018 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 11:54 pmFor those predicting wins, let me remind you we’ve won one league game at home this calendar year, and it’s mid October. Tell me - is your confidence based on the idea that no club can ever pull out of a slump, or is it that you're confident that this particular club has neither the players nor the manager to do it? Why do you think we are so much worse than this time last year - or were we relegated this time last year "without a doubt", as well?

Being optimistic - 13
Being realistic - 2
Cornet has played less than 45 mins of Prem football and people are putting him on the same pedestal as Defour - a bit dangerous to do that

I don’t think we’ve been in a slump this bad for this long before. My biggest worry is that we aren’t even playing badly at the moment but we can’t keep hold of a lead, something we used to be fantastic at.dsr wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 1:17 amI suppose it's fair to say that we won't win more than one home game in these four fixtures.

Yes Cornet gave us a lift at Leicester and Vydra has looked good, but it’s the sort of quality we should have throughout the squad having been in the PL for the amount of time we have now.
It’s been said before, but the years of awful transfer windows have caught up with us and I fear it’s too late to change it now.
Not that I’m particularly bothered, I much prefer the experience of the championship.

Maybe. We look bereft of confidence in the second half of games at the moment though.
Although it’s usually when these sort of threads appear that we start putting winning runs together and we look back and wonder what we were worried about.
