Team for City
After SD's presser, what do you think he'll do with the team? change of formation?
POPE
LOWTS TARKS COLLINS TAYLOR/PIETERS
DWIGHT BROWNHILL WESTY CORNET
J ROD WOOD
I'm guessing Vyds won't be risked, I'm guessing Taylor probs wont either.

Lets assume Vydra, Taylor and Mee still unfit, then ideal time to go 5 across the middle
Pope
Lowton Collins Tarks Pieters
Cornet Westwood Brownhill Cork McNeil
Wood
Cornet MUST start as he was fit enough to travel to the Ivory Coast and has scored 4 against Man City. Roberts to be on bench and replace either McNeil or Cornet (depending on who is playing worse) early second half.If we need to chase game JR to come on too at expense of our worst performing CM

Let’s have Roberts at right back first and take it from there.
Re: Team for City
Wood desperately needed a break before playing 2 more NZ games and traveling god knows how many miles. Would certainly give him a break.

Lowton Tarky Collins Pieters

Barnes Wood
Pope has been terrible all season. We brought a decent back up in and now is the time to use him.
I’d play Brownhill on the right just to accommodate him we need his engine in a game like this.
I’d leave Cornet out don’t want him getting injured in a game we have no chance of winning. Save him for Southampton.

And likewise the UTC obsession in "lets demotivate a new player". Roberts can play wide, end of. He played there both as full back and wide midfield for Swansea. If he has watched some of the woeful performances put in by JBG and Lennon this season, and doesn't get a chance soon, he will be asking himself if he has joined the right club, particularly with 3 points this season from 21.There is no one in my proposed line up out of positionarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 5:21 pmAgain the UTC obsession with playing a player out of position strikes! I saw the difference when we started with Cornet-have seen enough of this guy to suggest he needs to be involved, and confident he will have an impact

Re: Team for City
I'm sticking with last week's suggestion: Line up the whole squad and pick the eleven tallest, then lay four flat on the goal line, 6 shoulder to shoulder 1/2 yard further forward and Nick Pope as our lone 'striker' a yard ahead of them; sorted

As long pep is at City I can’t see how we even keep it below conceding 3.
We have bigger fish to fry with Southampton and Brentford let’s rest our best players and target them for a big 6 points

We MUST put out our strongest team, at the end of the season we might survive/get relegated depending on goal difference.

Re: Team for City
Fully agree. Too many of our fans throw the towel in. A huge challenge but we beat United and Liverpool in their backyards in the last couple of seasons. All I want is that the "best" players start for us. A lot of the City players have had a couple of tough games as well as the travelling and maybe they will not put out their best team. We must play Cornet who has scored 4 goals against them.I suspect all 4 of our strikers combined get nothing close to this. Just dont agree with this rubbish about saving our key players for Southampton. Cornet needs to play as many minutes as his fitness permits

I don't see the merit in playing a team that would inevitably be detrimental to the result, demonstrate such defeatism, breach premier league rules and cause reputational damage.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 8:34 pmMy strongest eleven is

Re: Team for City
The more pressing issue for me is the team v Southampton, and the fact that dyche has already used he's favourite term, touch and go in the case of vydra and Taylor. For Saturday wood really does need a break, and to give his head a wobble, he's just looked way off the last few games, yet he'll be in the starting 11 on Saturday.
Re: Team for City
Vyds also out with injury picked up in the International? According to social mee-dia... but Cornet should be availableWilmslowClaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 7:48 pmI posted a few minutes ago - that Mee has COVID - 17 viewed it then it disappeared - source BBC - what is the problem?

Re: Team for City
I know he may have COVID, but has Mee had both Covid jabs ??.If not how do we feel about that ??. He is paid handsomely by our club, my opinion is that it should be automatic for the player to have been fully vaccinated, yet I am hearing a high percentage of footballers have not had the vaccines

Lowts Tarks Collins Pieters (Mahrez has had Charlie on toast on our last couple of visits there, so Pieters surely can't fare any worse, and Taylor really could do with a break after a tough first couple of months to his season.
Cornet Brownhill Westwood Dwight
Jay Barnes (assuming Vydra isn't fit, and big Chris could also use a breather, especially after the amount of travelling he's done recently.

For me a bit of a blessing if Mee and Taylor are injured. Neither have had their best 7 games in the PL, and whilst not advocating either were dropped I hope that if both Collins and Pieters have very good games that they keep the shirt v Southampton

Vydra, Taylor, Mee rested/out. Bring Lennon on to keep maxwel fresh if we’ve already lost it at 60 mins but why not have a go from the start. City have been great at times but also poor in some games. They drew 0-0 with Southampton without creating anything. If we can catch them on a cold day and get our forwards into the game we could have a chance to get something from the game and really kick start our season.

Cornet and Roberts will be desperate to play at City.

Agree with your team and comments. The only thing II might add is Roberts to come on early second half for either McNeil or Cornet, depending on how they are playing. As has been said-both Cornet & Roberts will want to play against City, and it means blooding Roberts too. Big thing for me is there will be no AgueroIloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Thu Oct 14, 2021 11:50 pmPope

Re: Team for City
I’d still like to see how we play with a three man central midfield with Brownhill playing just in front of Westwood and Cork. A 4-2-3-1 formation.
—————Westwood———Cork
McNeil—————Brownhill—————Cornet
This would leave us with only one ‘centre forward’ BUT because we have three in central midfield this gives McNeil and Cornet slightly less defensive responsibility and a bit more freedom to attack and support the centre forward.
At the end of the day ‘if we never try it we’ll never find out’.
