County Championship: Two-division structure to return from 2022 season

Post by tiger76 » Fri Oct 15, 2021 7:47 pm

Lancashire will be in Division 1 due to winning Division 2 way back in 2019, however Notts are a notable absentee from the top flight, despite being in the running to actually win the CC a few weeks ago.https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/58913832

No decision yet on whether the BWT will continue or not.

I actually liked the pandemic format, culminating in the Bob Willis Trophy but two divisions is how it should be.

I've no issue with two divisions, my biggest concern is how are they going to fit all the fixtures into such a congested calendar, especially now The Hundred takes up most of the later part of summer.

Playing 4 day games in April/May, and then September can hardly help English batsman develop given the conditions and the pitches at those stages of the season, as shown by the spat of low scores at the beginning and end of the season.
