Re: lost, again
Biggest concern last night was that we played all four of our strikers and not one of them looked like a threat against a Tottenham side that weren't really up for it. We are going to need goals to stay up and as soon as sides figure out Cornet I can't see where those goals are going to come from.
Re: lost, again
I still think it's the lack of clean sheets that's the biggest worry. Last season we'd only scored 9 goals after 17 matches but we'd managed to keep six clean sheets in that time.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 11:10 amBiggest concern last night was that we played all four of our strikers and not one of them looked like a threat against a Tottenham side that weren't really up for it. We've never been prolific scorers but our ability to see out 1-0 wins always kept us ticking over.
This season we've dropped 12 points from winning positions.
That's what's costing us, not lack of goals.

Re: lost, again
I agree that we have made uncharacteristic defensive mistakes this season that has cost us games, but I think fundamentally we have a very good and solid defence and keeper. I think Collins and Roberts have helped sure that up further.Spijed wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 11:25 amI still think it's the lack of clean sheets that's the biggest worry. Where do you see our goals coming from?

At present our elusive 12th man Owen Gool is equal top goal scorer with Wood and ahead of Vydra Barnes and Rodriguez

Re: lost, again
As I said, we've never had to rely on scoring goals too much. Scoring one goal was often enough for us. In previous seasons we would never have lost so many points from winning positions as we have done this year so obviously there is something no quite right with how we are unable to stop conceding goals. It crept in at Southampton and at home to West Ham and Newcastle.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 11:29 amI agree that we have made uncharacteristic defensive mistakes this season that has cost us games, but I think fundamentally we have a very good and solid defence and keeper. Whatever happened to our ability to park the bus and be water tight once we'd got our noses in front?
Scoring two away at Leicester and Southampton (twice) should have been enough to get three points in both those games, but it wasn't. That's where my concerns lie.
Taking the lead against the likes of Brighton and Leeds should also have seen us get an extra five points.

Re: lost, again
It was poor stuff last night. There appeared very little heart in the side, once a main component of a Sean Dyche team. The performance was a tired one, bereft of skill, pace, ideas but mostly desire. I genuinely can't see a way out of this malaise where long periods of the game just disappear without a passage of play to lift the supporters. So many players on view last night gave me the impression that they had been the unlucky ones to have been chosen for a midweek game.
That phrase 'must win game' has cropped up more than once already this season and this Saturday's game can be added to the list, I suppose. We're at a crossroads, that's for certain and unless the mood is lifted for both players and fans I really can't see us taking the correct route.

Re: lost, again
Perfect example, I said, I can take losses. Leeds will be fine regardless of the division they are in.
What has qualifying for the qualifying round 4 years ago got to do with anything? and what does that prove exactly?

Re: lost, again
Was referring to our 4 elite strikers. Now one goal between them, and that a gaff by the keeper
Re: lost, again
I thought Spurs were absolutely awful last night too, the Spurs fans were chanting ''Nuno, make a change, Nuno Nuno make a change'' they still beat us comfortably.
