Re: Burnley v Tottenham - Player Ratings
Pope 8 - one outstanding save one on one
Roberts 7 - he can be more of a threat going forward than that but thought he defended really well
Collins 8* - another classy performance from him
Mee 7 - dealt with Kane quite easily
Pieters 5 - offers no real out ball on the left
JBG 4 - when there’s talk that a players ‘legs have gone’ he is the prime example
Brownhill 5 - some good interceptions but composure on the ball was shocking before Cornet came on
Cork 4 - woefully slow on the ball and poor passing
McNeil 6 - only one to show a bit of composure
Vydra 5 - feeding on scraps
Rodriguez 5 - same as above
Wood 4 - playing like a league 1 striker right now
Barnes 4 - is a league 1 striker
Cornet 7 - brightened up our play, gave us a tempo and is suddenly indispensable if we have any chance of staying up this season

Re: Burnley v Tottenham - Player Ratings
Pope 8 kept the score down with 2 World class saves
Roberts 6 not a bad debut, them throws will cause defences problems, let's hope they're premier league defences and not championship ones
Collins 7 thought he was good again, some nerves and little uncostly errors, but some signs of real quality
Mee 6 steady return
Pieters 5 limitations show
JBG 5 not good enough
Brownhill 5 lots of huff and puff but nothing of note
Cork 4 lost it numerous times, looks tired and slow
McNeil 5 didn't beat a man or put in a ball all night
Vydra 5 feeding off scraps but didn't do anything to alter the tempo or feel of the game
Jay Rod 5 as above
Spurs were quite poor tonight I thought, but we just looked to be going through the motions without any real effort or idea to actually go and hurt them.
We did the same thing over and over again, we lacked any ideas, no one beat a man, no one looked for quick one twos, no midfielder broke the lines.
We made the straight like for like swaps up top and out wide but again the play was generally the same, bit for a few nervy moments from the long throws.
I'm struggling to see any difference or improvement from any of the previous x demountable of home games, the decision making is poor, and the quality just doesn't seem there.
Tonight's result won't shape our season however the feel good factor and belief is decreasing every single home game.
IMO Saturday is massive, not just for 3 points, but I feel another no show and subsequent defeat might just see the crowd start to turn, and that is when the battle becomes even harder.

Cork 3 - seriously, what on earth was he doing for their goal? the ball is with him on the edge of our area, why does he not bring it down with 1 touch and pass it to a team mate? Instead he just launches it straight back to Spurs with no Burnley player in that area, then they score? like what the ****
JBG 4 rubbish, so slow and predictable, get left foot and cross, 1 good cross aside did absolutely nothing.
Vydra 5 good movement, good runs in behind just barely any service and long ball isn't his game.
Rodriguez 3 another shocking performance, limited service.
Lennon 5 slightly better than JBG and offered little
Wood 4 zero hold up play, zero link play, if he isn't scoring goals he's anonymous.
Cornet 6 lifted the crowd, kept the ball on the ground, one great cross.
Barnes 3 woeful, gave away free kicks, dived around for cheap penalties.

Re: Burnley v Tottenham - Player Ratings
Pope 8* - At least two world class saves. Kept us in the game.
Roberts 6 - Had a few chances to whip a ball in and instead opted for a simple pass. Also had opportunities to drive into space, but didn;t take it a good few times. His throw is a real danger and overall he was solid.
Collins 7 - Did well all things considered.
Mee - 7 Very solid, didn't really give Kane a sniff.
Pieters 5 - Struggled. Looked susceptible against Emerson and never really looked comfortable.
JBG 4 - Poor tonight.
Brownhill 6 - Better in second half, broke up the play and won some good interceptions, but went backwards just a bit too often for me.
Cork 5 - First half he was very very poor. Sloppy, weak and well off the pace. Second half he improved a bit, but still not upto par IMO.
McNeil 7 - Only player first half who even tried. Defensively worked very hard and tried to make things happen, but nothing really cam off for him tonight. Works far better with Taylor.
Vydra 5 - Although not sure what more he could do. Lumping it to him with the two big centre halves covering him was pointless.
Rodriguez 5 - As Vydra really.
Wood 4 - Ran the channels a few times, but really doesn't look threatening at all right now. Off the boil. We really need him firing again.
Barnes 4 - Completely uninspiriing. Spends all his time moaning at the ref and backing in. Waste of time, sadly.
Cornet 7 - Game changed when he entered the fray. Suddenly we seemed to want it.
Lennon 5 - Offered very little.

First shot on target 84th min says it all - shocking and people at the top need to look long and hard what they need to do to survive.
Any other club with this home run manager would be long gone - Saturday is massive.

Re: Burnley v Tottenham - Player Ratings
These ratings are simply a joke. You are seriously saying that of the 15 players the majority (8) only deserved a rating of 3 in a narrow defeat to Spurs. It wasn't pretty by either side and we created nothing... but honestly.BOYSIE31 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:24 pmPope 8

Dull, lifeless, boring and many more adjectives to sum up how poor we are at the moment. The most lacklustre middle and forward area for a long, long time. It’s now becoming a chore to watch our games but the most damning thing about our games is we have nothing else to give or in reserve and are floundering. It’s not been a great night

For all Dyches bulls*t phrases such as framework, intensity, mentality etc etc, he needs to coach the basics such as passing the ball forward to a player, not lumping it and see what happens.
We create nothing. The effectiveness has gone and so has the enjoyment.

Our midfield has nothing to offer going forward with Westwood as well.

Re: Burnley v Tottenham - Player Ratings
Very flat game for 75 mins. We offered nothing going forward but the defensive ‘framework’ was good. Spurs looked ok until they got to the edge of our box but didn’t force Pope into a meaningful save either until the Le Celso chance.
We then late on decided to be be braver, took some risks and created at-least a little bit of confusion at the back.

They are when you look at some ratings, particularly the poster you have highlighted. He does this on a regular basis.

Re: Burnley v Tottenham - Player Ratings
Defensively ok
But so poor going forward, and the intensity that we have had before is completely missing
Spurs were terrible as well, but we are so limited in attack at the moment its a real worry
Cornet looks like our player who isn't terrified of the ball, and we improved noticeably once he was introduced
But it was a tough watch tonight

Brentford must be lickin their lips at the thought of playing us on Saturday, woeful doesn`t cover our current form and I don`t think management are up to saving us this time round, it`s pub football at best, I hate saying it but events of the last few years have finally caught up with us and I`m not seeing anything on the pitch to make me think we will pull out of this, I really hope I`m wrong.

It would be really interesting to see average marks for keeper and defence against that of midfield and forwards for the season. I would suggest it will paint an accurate picture of what we are seeing on the pitch on a weekly basis.

I misjudged the mildness of the evening and wore a thick warm jacket. This combined with the football on offer resulted in me doing that thing when your head droops before jerking back awake.
The atmosphere in the last ten minutes should show the team that if they want the crowd to be more vocal and fervent in their support then it’s up to the team to create it and not the other way around.

As soon as their goal went in it was curtains. There was nothing on that pitch that was ever going to get un an equaliser last night. Cornet stood out when he came on because he made a few runs and found a few passes. I think that just about says it all.
