I won’t go on the Turf again
Until this dreadful hoofball stops.
We need a massive squad revamp ASAP the players we have aren’t good enough to play the system we try to play anymore, we have an ageing squad with players who can’t compete at this level anymore, last night was terrible we looked like a league 2 side at best.
There’s no doubt about it we will be in the Championship next season.
A full squad revamp and a change of style is needed. Fans can’t take this no more hence the decline in attendances.
This isn’t an over reaction it’s the truth. Anyone who says we don’t play hoofball is deluded the stats prove it.
I’m not spending my money watching that boring sack of rubbish again.
Miracles are needed, It was fun whilst it lasted.

Agree with all your points and I do believe we'll be playing Championship football next season.
But that won't stop me from going on - it was tough enough not being able to go during lockdown, seeing friends and enjoying the matchday experience. Almost felt we took it for granted before and wouldn't do that again.

I agree with you, but I think it’s going to take a year or two to recover from a lack of investment for so long under Garlick towards the end.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
What I find is if I get to this stage is that you just don't go until you feel like you are going to enjoy it again
Normally for me that is one game, but if last nights performance is replicated on a consistent basis then there really isn't any point turning up
The United fans clapping themselves on the back for singing and chanting when Liverpool beat them 5-0 at home may think they are doing the right thing, but the clearest message of unhappiness you can send to a football club is by not turning up or leaving early

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
The squads needed a good overhaul for the last two seasons. SD has been restricted, the fallout with MG didn’t help. We’ve been punching for sometime and inevitably it catches up with you. I still think a strong mobile forward together with a pacey goal scoring midfielder will get us out of this mess but where do you find players like that within our budget. Apologies for my negativity but I thought four games ago even with Cornet it won’t save us from going down unless there’s more quality to come in, by January we could be too far away. I hope I’m proved wrong.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
I seem to remember saying something similar in October 1986. Then again in November, December, January 1987.....you get the gist. Except then we really did have something to complain about.
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
Unfair comment. Every football fan is entitled to there opinion. Why do people feel the need to criticise. I don’t see a problem with a counter argument that’s constructive but to simply criticise is just wrong and uncalled for.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
People not going certainly won’t help with a squad overhaul, but obviously that’s their right to do so and their choice.
Problem is that contributes to the only option to have funds to do so is to sell our best players, massively counter productive.. A very vicious circle indeed…

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
The Americans I do think are doing their best to repair things after the lack of signings before them. £1million for Stevens a Brighton reserve and free transfers, was never going to bring anything. One can only imagine Dyche knew that and signed him to beef up the numbers. It seems reasonable to think that Garlick had been planning the sale for two years. He is if figures are to be believed over £90million better off...or will be. Dyche is only as good as the players he has in the squad. He hasn't become a bad manager. But with the declining players at his disposal he is struggling. Cornet, Roberts and Collins need to stay in the team. Add McNeil, Brownhill, Mee, Taylor and Pope and maybe Westwood. Sell Tarkowski in Jan if we can and use that money to strengthen. Move heaven and earth to sign a striker from somewhere. All is not lost but Brentford is huge. January is critical. Maybe Wilshire on a pay as you play basis. We'll carry on with the 80mile round trip from Leeds but the attraction is either a meal before the game at the Kettledrum, or afterwards at the Hare and Hounds with friends.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
Arrived home in Shrewsbury with my lad (29) at 12.15 am last night . It did seem a bit of a pointless groundhog day journey . With the football we're playing and the overall cost ( especially diesel ) , I'll certainly be more selective in the home games to attend .

The OP could have announced his flounce on the Hoofball thread.
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
I must admit if I didn't have a season ticket I would think twice about buying a match day ticket to watch the rubbish we are having to endure, its league 2 tactics and we are an embarrassment at times.
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
If it was a 1 off then fair comment, but we haven't won at home in nearly 15 games. Add the fact we are playing some of the most depressing football since Cotterill.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
Why is it ok to criticise the club, management and individual players but not ok to criticise those negative posters. Or are opinions only allowed to go one way?
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
If we go down and I still say “if” I would look at replacing Dyche with a manager who plays football that is pleasing on the eye. The first half yesterday was awful and only improved in the second half with the substitutions particularly Cornet but we are in danger of over expectation with him.
To me the players are low on confidence and choose the easy backwards pass rather than the more speculative forward option, a few times yesterday we were in good positions breaking forward out of defence into midfield only for us to stop pass sideways or backwards.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
The recruitment is so bad, they need to strip Dyche of final say on contracts/transfers. Who on earth let Dyche sign Aaron Lennon? surely some idiot is allowing this, the funniest part was the fans defending that signing Same with the Stephens signing
But but we the fans are just negative for voicing realistic opinions that Lennon and Stephens are shite and were shite signings.......

Wait a bit...aren't you the one who criticises people for not going to away matches?
So I take it you won't be going to TM but still attending our away games?

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
sadly I know quite a few lads who no longer go for some of the reasons stated by the OP. Every single one of them had been going since the 80's. I guess the cost and the lack of entertainment has worn many people down, the attendances also seem to indicate it.
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
I would have thought following 18 months not being able to go to a football match would make people realise what they took for granted. For me no matter how bad we are its a big part of my/our life and will always be there when possible.

Plenty of people are clearly voting with their feet already. The lack of interest in our away games after 18 months of no footy isn't good either.

Aren't attendances down at most clubs this season anyway, apart from the touristy ones?

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
Just don’t go if you don’t fancy it and fair play to the fans who went last night. I didn’t bother last night because it’s gone beyond stale and I don’t find it that entertaining. I did some extra work instead and glad I did. It shouldn’t be a chore but about enjoyment. Lockdown has actually made me realise there is plenty of other stuff to do. I used to hate missing matches but I’m not too bothered at the moment. I can’t remember the last time we looked (convincingly or otherwise) like beating the opposition ( other than Rochdale ). Maybe Wolves away last year. If numbers drop I’m sure the board will do something about it.
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
I have hunch it will be loosely linked to the amount of people who have not returned to work after lockdown either because their priorities have changed.
Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
It's such a shame that many fans feel this way. After the horrid lockdown I realised just how much I missed the whole matchday routine and I value it more than ever right now. Of course it's as much about the socialising before and after the game than the game itself, which we all know is seldom very good in terms of entertainment value.
You just get the feeling that the whole club, from the playing side to the fans, are stuck in an almighty rut at the moment. We desperately need a thumping victory against Brentford on Saturday.

I understand how the OP feels entirely. Most of us do.
But my comment is completely fair. He's throwing a barney, as he is perfectly entitled to do.
The problem is that we effectively did not participate in 3-4 transfer windows. We're playing catch up.
If we all throw our toys out of the pram maybe it will give the current squad a kick up the backside, but I'm not sure if it's wise?

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
Hi Rd, just the bit I've underlined. Yes, I think there is good information that Mike Garlick was looking to sell the club from early 2018 - and maybe this path had been started before signs were first seen that this was a possibility.Rodleydave wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 1:17 pmThe Americans I do think are doing their best to repair things after the lack of signings before them. £1million for Stevens a Brighton reserve and free transfers, was never going to bring anything. Re how much "better off" MG will be, £90+ million may be right, though I think to get as much as this the club will need to stay in the Premier League for at least 2 more seasons. Just my speculation - I don't have any other information - that the difference between ALK's bid and Mike Garlick's offer was the difference between a club that continued in the Premier League against one that got relegated. this can explain the lower price of £102 million that ALK have been reported to have paid - and the £68 million that wasn't paid then split (roughly) £45 million Mike Garlick and £23 million John B. If these figures are anywhere near the truth, Mike Garlick is only better off by £45+ million, so far (or, maybe more if the first performance payment related to the 2020/21 season.

Re: I won’t go on the Turf again
After our League Cup win at Newcastle a few weeks ago "Padiham Thick Neck" started a thread on here slating Burnley fans for not travelling up to Newcastle for the midweek game in much larger numbers. In fact he said our following was embarrassing, even though he didn't go to the game himself.
After our latest League Cup game he now starts another thread saying he won't go to Turf Moor again.
One minute saying he is embarrassed by the lack of our fans at Newcastle on a midweek night match and the next minute he tells us he won't be going to any more home games.

We've watched far worse at the Turf in my time watching the Clarets since 1963
As a fan my team have thrilled, entertained and frustrated me in equal measure over the decades and will do again
We are on the up with Sean getting money to improve our team.
Things will improve its frustration that prompted the op comments but need all our fans behind the team and manager.
Whoever wears the shirt will get my support.
