R.I.P. Helmshoreclaret

My beloved uncle, a.k.a. Helmshore claret passed away peacefully today.

At his request, his coffin will make a final detour via Turf Moor.

My sincere thanks for all fellow clarets on expressing their sympathy and best wishes on this site.

Whilst I do not have the time to post on this MB too often nowadays, I would also like to pass on my best wishes to all fellow posters who are facing the same predicament within their family or friendship circles.

The real soul of football lies in the community spirit, not in the depth of the pockets of (foreign) investors.

Ah man, my heart sank after I saw this topic. I was hoping he'd pull through.
Please accept my condolences, as you say what keeps us all together is that community spirit, and we're lucky that no matter how hard life sometimes is, Burnley FC is always there.

Words never truly cover it for those who have lost someone dear, but footy does bring that “we are in this together” and where that helps losing a fellow Claret, knowing our bond gives strength at a difficult time….

Let’s hope that “Turf in the sky” reunites departed friends….

And let’s hope he sees better football up there than we are at the moment!

There is quite an amusing post on this forum somewhere,it goes something like this...... how HelmshoreClaret and his Dad set of walking from Haslingden to Rawtentall in the snow in their wellies to catch a coach to watch us play Spurs in London in the 60s and how when they got there there was no snow and how the Spurs fans found it funny that they were trudging round London in wellies,when they returned home the snow was even deeper and they happily trudged back off to Haslingden from Rawtenstall suitably dressed in their wellies
