because Dyche is a creature of habit and we are ahead instinctively goes defensive - we got lucky this time we had a three goal cushion
Lucky?
Seriously?
I give up.

One thing for certain is that we did not get lucky. If anything we were unlucky not to be at least two more goals clear, come half time.

After the first 45 minutes I would say we were unlucky we only had a three goal cushion

No wonder we have lost so many points from winning positions.
Brentford were there for a cricket score today. JBG should have scored, John Moss bottled the penalty decision but why invite Brentford to attack us in the second half. It was only a matter of time before they scored.
I think some comments do you a disservice. I said the same to my missus. Ultimately though at 3-0 at half time I thought. We'll sit this one out now and maybe nick a fourth. My personal mindset would be to go at them again as they were there for the taking but they were visibly more up for it second half without really being a threat.
I certainly think we were possibly a bit too relaxed 2nd half and going through the motions but understandable that at 3-0 the players just wanted the points. That said, we all know Burnley and I even said to the Missus (jokingly maybe) that we might lose 3-4.

We put a hell of a shift in the first half. To a man, our players won their individual battles and we totally demolished Brentford. We were never going to be able to keep that momentum up for the entire 90 minutes, and it was important that we came out and nullified them for the 15-20 minutes after the break, which we did extremely comfortably.
After that our intensity dropped a little, and we rightly took Cornet off which pretty much alleviated our counter attacking threat. We continued to defend very well but they scored a good goal completely out of the blue which wasn't really a result of us taking the foot off the gas. It was partly a result of our composure on the ball though as we had been quite sloppy with the ball for the 10 minutes or so before their goal.
But the job was done in the first 60 minutes and it was a very comprehensive win against a side who have started the season well, but I wager will be in the relegation mix come the end of the season.

Don't think we took foot of the gas, Brentford were bound to come out different 2nd half. They pressed extremely well and moved the ball a lot better 2nd half. Great 1st half, and no doubt a relief to all involved.
