Awarding of a penalty goal

Post by SouthLondonexile » Sat Nov 06, 2021 7:55 pm

Just seen the Newcastle v Brighton game, where the goalkeeper was sent off for the denial of a goal scoring opp by foul means.
In such an instance I think the attacking team should be awarded a penalty goal.
As a footnote I’ve always thought Brighton to be a team liable to take liberties on the pitch. Obvs not my favourite in the Premiership.

When you watch it unfold though, you've got to say a red card and a draw is daylight robbery for stealing the chance Wilson had

"Took one for the team", would have been costly if earlier in the game

We'd get more play acting if Penalties were awarded elsewhere on the pitch

We don't get penalties so let's just do away with them
