Scotland have done well to secure 2nd and crucially a seeded PO berth, however there's some decent sides involved in those matches, so whoever Scotland draw it'll be tough.

From a home nations POV it would be great if both Scotland and Wales could qualify.

The biggest issue for Scotland might be keeping hold of Steve Clarke, his success won't have gone unnoticed by a lot of club owners.

Scotland look competitive for first time in years. I hope they get a good draw but actually think they can beat anyone at home at the moment. Not much dead wood left in playoffs though so it will still be a massive achievement to qualify through 2 rounds. Here's hoping.

Brilliant achievement from plucky scotland, finishing ahead Israel, Faroe Islands, Austria and Moldova isn't an easy task.

2 partys in 1 year, after months of celebrating a 0-0 draw they now have a sneak at going to a World Cup. Lets hope they don't balls it up

I watched Scotland last night and quite surprised at how well they played.

They have a good chance of getting through the play offs if they play like that.

Republic of Ireland also played really well on Sunday (admittedly against a poor team). Thought Jason Knight and Ogbene looked good for Ireland

I've almost supported Scotland a few times and 1998 against Brazil was one of those times.

The day of the match in 1998, I was in Burnley and it was an awful day so I went down to Burnley Con. Club on Oxford Rd. and watched the match live there.

The Scottish goal was a bit like Burnley and then the all too familiar depression of the event and the day coinciding... That it got to that on a summer's day in Burnley that I went to watch that indoors and almost for Scotland.

Sure the Danes were missing a few, but Scotland have hugely improved during this campaign, 7 wins out of 10, and only 1 reverse in Denmark, 6 clean sheets in 10 games, including 5 in the last 6.

And whoever travels to Hampden they'll have a difficult evening given the form and attitude of this Scotland squad, I'd definitely back them to make the final, and then it's all down to whether they perform on the night, luck of the draw would also be helpful, but apart from Italy and Portugal the rest shouldn't be feared by this emerging youthful Scottish outfit.

Draws next week I think, Scotland and Wales are normally strong at home, so there's a fair shout for both of them to reach the finals,

North Macedonia are the ones everyone will be hoping to get, but it's wise not to treat any of the teams lightly at this stage.

Dykes being back in the spring should provide Scotland with the cutting edge which could prove the difference.

It would be some game if they met for a WC finals berth, however it would also bring back sombre memories of Jock Stein's untimely death at the end of the 1985 contest at Ninian Park.

Outwith Italy who really shouldn't be in the play-off's, the rest are all beatable in a one-off game, even Portugal have areas that teams can exploit.

The key for both Scotland and Wales is getting their strongest sides on the park, if both can do that in the spring they have every chance of ending their WC heartache.
