Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
The way in which the blatant and large scale corruption of our leaders has now become something that the electorate now accepts without protest.
The unquestioning compliance of the vast majority of Tory MPs trooping into the lobby last week to vote for corruption was pretty depressing.
Before the usual suspects leap in, I'm not disputing that plenty of Labour MPs are just as keen to get their snouts in the trough.

Steve ---don't worry about it, just go to sleep and ---if you don't waken up in the morning ---it won't be your problem!
Conversely, when you do waken up in the morning --just be happy and don't worry about anything else ---it makes life so easy.

Lack of sex. It’s not the lack of sex that keeps me awake but worrying about the rollicking I’ll get for waking her up. I could try and climb aboard without waking her up but that never works.

At the moment it is the final rubber stamp on my application to join the Ambulance service....something I have wanted for a while...I have just jumped the final hurdle so waiting on the final tick in the box and I can breathe easy.....I know this is insignificant given some posters circumstances but it's a big deal for me....

My dog. Always sleeps on the floor by my side of the bed, and spends the night adding a particular powerful fragrance to the atmosphere.
If he doesn’t sleep in my room, he barks constantly. Got to think of the neighbours!

Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
You're putting the mentioning of the fear of Trump running for President on a par with another poster's fear of someone molesting a child ?
Aye, alright then....
Then there's the other creep having a dig, I presume, at the climate change lobby............well, I think that's what it was - hard to tell really.
Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
Everything! I’m a terrible sleeper - it doesn’t have to be something negative or worrisome, it can be positive things that are on the horizon, that whirl around my head when I’m wanting to sleep.
I’ve tried tablets (only over the counter), relaxing sounds, music on, music off, mindfulness, counting bloody sheep!
10 pints does the trick but I certainly don’t wake up refreshed!!

Funnily enough, John Major Tory Gov was the last sleaze Gov and they were booted out comprehensively.
Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
Work is a big one that keeps me awake.
Other than that it’s excitement of something that’s happening the next day - holidays, Christmas Day (big kid!) or a big game or away day.

I find that I lay awake thinking about stupid stuff. For example in March I was worrying about how many rows and the spacing when planting my onion sets.

Seems to be a worrying trend in other places too.
The corruption has always gone on, but the huge access to 'instant' news that makes it so much more apparent.
Sadly, this news just seems normalise it. And this in turn gives the politicians a green light to shamelessly up their bin dipping.
Barnard Castle in "lockdown" is a gentle stroll up the road now, from London.

Yep.. Thing is Buxton.. I always felt that despite my political differences with Tory voting friends, that they, like Labour voters had expectations and standards of the people they were prepared to vote for.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 12:29 amSeems to be a worrying trend in other places too.

Times change, and the ability of the media to brainwash the proles has grown exponentially...to the extent that they'll ignore levels of sleaze and greed that are frankly off the scale, yet on the other hand they'll be howling abuse at the likes of Corbyn because his tie maybe wasn't straight enough at the Cenotaph.
It doesn't bode well.

Yes but Corbyn wanted to imprison all soldiers and eat their babies and a crooked tie at the Cenotaph was symptomatic of that.fatboy47 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:45 amYep.. Thing is Buxton.. You die if you worry and you die if you don't, so why worry?

Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
The thing I often think about in my quieter moments is when I'm no longer here I will never know what division we are in, will we win the FACup and I won't be around to enjoy it will we ever play in the bottom division again?will we move away from Turf Moor, will we ever have oil rich owners? All these things tend to worry me when I won't be around to know what's going on at our club?...and I tend to be quite jealous of the people who have another 60/70 years left in their lives to carry on the journey our club is on..

I used to think like that, strangely over the last 10 years I’ve stopped being as bothered, I’d love to see a cup win but other than that I’ve been quite lucky to see us go as far as we are likely to go. I guess you never know, but in the current climate it looks unlikely we will ever win the top tier again.Steve1956 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:54 amThe thing I often think about in my quieter moments is when I'm no longer here I will never know what division we are in, will we win the FACup and I won't be around to enjoy it will we ever play in the bottom division again?will we move away from Turf Moor, will we ever have oil rich owners? It’s sad is that. It’s something I know I’ll say at some point but I think I’ll say it loads in general.
I try not to think too much about it as it’s inevitable but it is upsetting none the less.
Your kids will have fantastic memories though of their period of time watching with you. They’ll make their own memories with their family for the next period and their kids will feel the same when the time comes.

Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
I have spells where, if I am struggling with my anxiety, literally anything could keep me awake. The slightest molehill becomes a mountain of Everest proportions. Luckily not happened for a while.
The only things that would normally keep me awake are the health and well-being of my family members.

Re: What Worries You / Keeps You Awake at Night?
Ever since having kids i sometimes get thoughts running through my head regarding situations where they are hurt in an accident (car crash etc) and how i wouldn't cope. Weird i know but apparently quite normal.
If its been busy at work and I have dealt with something particularly upsetting i somethings struggle to sleep, particularly if i had a lot of involvement (e.g. leading a cardiac arrest)
