Team v Palace
Now thankfully the international nonsense is finished for several months it's back to proper footy.
Can't see many changes after the performance and result at Chelsea, however I guess the key questions are will Cornet & Wood have sufficiently recovered from their travels to be considered in the starting XI.
I'll plump for this line-up.
Pope
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
JBG Brownhill Westwood McNeil
Vydra Jay Rod

Not a bad shout? It’s one of the worse I’ve seen and that takes some doing on here.
Wood and Cornet rested against a relegation rival? I’m glad Dychey doesn’t think like you two do

Yes, i imagine that the poster is assuming they may not be ready after their international travels.Local cricketer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:05 pmNot a bad shout? It’s one of the worse I’ve seen and that takes some doing on here.

If they are ready then obviously they may go ahead of the front two he has put on his selection.
Anyhow, you know the team already, don't you?

Re: Team v Palace
Can see where the OP is coming from.
But I hope we don't do it. Be a tough game against Palace, but it'll be a lot tougher if we take Wood and Cornet out. Leaving some of your better players out after an international break is something the top teams can do. But when you're like us, in the bottom three, looking to keep the momentum going (three unbeaten, one defeat in six) at home against the sort of side we need to be getting points against, it's a different story.

Re: Team v Palace
Yes I thought I'd made that clear in my post, my doubts over Cornet & Wood starting were mainly based on how much they'd recovered from their travelling, if one or hopefully both are raring to go then great, but they've had a lot of travelling, plus in Max's case he's suffered the disappointment of missing out on a WC place with the Ivory Coast.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:15 pmYes, i imagine that the poster is assuming they may not be ready after their international travels.

Anyway if both are unavailable in the early months of 2022 we'll need to get results without their services, and both Jay & Vyds looked lively enough when they came in against Chelsea, including linking up for our goal, so why not give them a shot, and if it's not working we can always make changes later in the game.
Cornet is far too valuable for us too risk him picking up an injury, and Wood hasn't yet got going this term, so if we can use them both sparingly all the better, especially in a week when they've both endured plenty of journeys.
I thought that was why we had a squad so we could rotate and change things up when required.

I must admit I think this is a bizarre take. Every other international player in the premier league will feature this weekend if fit.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:48 pmYes I thought I'd made that clear in my post, my doubts over Cornet & Wood starting were mainly based on how much they'd recovered from their travelling, if one or hopefully both are raring to go then great, but they've had a lot of travelling, plus in Max's case he's suffered the disappointment of missing out on a WC place with the Ivory Coast.

Why does it differ for Burnley?

Are Burnley and Palace relegation rivals?
I'm almost certain Palace don't see it that way.

Re: Team v Palace
Problem is Cornet and Wood form basically our only attacking threat, apart from set pieces. Unless they're carrying a knock they have to play.

Re: Team v Palace
I don't know the specific travel arrangements, but very few players are coming all the way from New Zealand. how long does it take for Chris Wood to recover? I have no idea, but I'm sure someone on here will know.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:14 pmif you discount his goal against Brentford. Oh and the two that he scored yesterday for NZ

It’s a 7 hour flight from Dubai in first class. Not like he’s travelling 24 hours around the world.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:21 pmI don't know the specific travel arrangements, but very few players are coming all the way from New Zealand. how long does it take for Chris Wood to recover? Re: Team v Palace
Yes he's bagged a couple, but he's looked poor in some games as well, and as much as I like Wood if he doesn't score his contribution can often be limited, thankfully he usually hits a purple patch at some stage in the season, and this generally coincides with Burnley pulling away from danger.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:14 pmif you discount his goal against Brentford. Re: Team v Palace
Good grief! Let's give tiger76 a break.
He's merely contemplated that Chris Wood and Max Cornet might not be fresh to start. It's not a totally ridiculous thought. The Kiwis played in Abu Dhabi and not in Ardwick. Ivory Coast played in Yaoundé and not in York.
Given some of the lunacy on here, tiger's fears are perfectly well-grounded IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

As posted above Prem players travel to South America every international break (16+ hour flight) so I’m sure Wood and Cornet will manage.ecc wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:36 pmGood grief! Let's give tiger76 a break.

Re: Team v Palace
What's the harm in a bit of conjecture? It makes for (intelligent) conversation sometimes.
How about we start with the two who finished against Chelsea (they actually did very well) and make the opposite tactical change, bringing on Wood and Cornet ...fresh legs if we've kept Palace quiet?
Re: Team v Palace
Let's leave it to SD shall we. And we all know what that team will be.
