Stockport-Bolton (BBC 2)

Post by tiger76 » Wed Nov 17, 2021 7:33 pm

This should be a spicy encounter, Stockport signed the Bolton skipper recently just to add fuel to the fire.

Great that the BBC have provided live coverage for the minnows.

It's tough for these non-league / lower league teams and a small cup run could make all the difference. Stockport have done magnificently to get themselves out of the Northern Premier and back among the "big boys" in the National League.

Think they're near neighbours too so could be a bit spicy.

I watched last nights game Solihull Moors v Wigan that went into extra time on ITV4.

Good to see teams that one doesn’t get the opportunity to see normally with the extra bit of determination because it’s the good old FA cup employed.

that defender couldn't do that if he tried, even Ronaldo would struggle with that type of skill

Yes, but the defender, if he's decided to take control, should head it for a corner.
You know that at any level.

Who do you want to win?

I'd lean ever so slightly towards Stockport, always had a soft spot for them after they could only find ~5000 fans for a trip to Wembley.

I still have an aversion to Bolton.
10 years ahead of us...I hope not.
Funny, I'm sure most of us can remember Stockport being serious rivals.

I hope Stockport win this...
but I doubt they will.

Stockport win for me too.
It was my first ever visit to a league ground, in '63. I was an quietly excited 6 yo.
The Home end, a lot bigger now than then, was where my dad took me.
It was a 'dy' run for my first Clarets game at Stoke a few weeks later. 8-)

It's not for the want of trying by Stockport. Credit to them for giving it a go.

Stockport are a big part of our fairly recent history and rise to the top tier.

Couldn't really be a bigger contrast between us.

Attendance 10,084, fair play.

There's a couple of thousand from Bolton so about as many as they took to Wembley. Not bad for a non league outfit.

The "red" missed a shirt pull 🤔 ... am not actually watching but isn't the ref wearing "black" not "red"
