Give me a couple of mins and I’ll get it set up. I’ll get the table updated next week too.RammyClaret61 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 3:50 amWill there be one? Or is it to difficult to get the gate these days?

only 17 replies for Palace game - lowest of season!
Guess the gate used to be enjoyable but kinda lost internet this season with no results gives for several weeks!
What is it with not publishing attendance…have club ever provided a reason why not?

I retired from Guess the Gate as League Leader with no information posted on here
Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
What a poor gate. What do they have to.do this team? That was some match today and those lucky enough to attend witnessed a startling strike from Maxwel Cornet. Worth the admission fee to a few games that was.

Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
I have to say, I cannot understand why the town and fans are not getting behind the team more at the moment. It’s pretty poor because other grounds are now full and we have a lot of empty seats.
I’m not buying the ticket price argument because it’s the cheap seats that are empty. I could understand the frustration in previous summers with lack of investment but this year we invested in some good young talent and also now have one of the best, most exciting players to play for us in a while. I think I read Cornet had the best goals per minute record in the Prem. You’d think people would want to come along and watch prem football every week.

Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
I certainly think people really should be coming along to watch Premier League football at The Turf whilst they can, because it won't be around forever and may even not be around this time next year. I'm filling my boots ready to keep me going during the wilderness years which are probably inevitable at some point.

The ticket price doesn't help, but for too many people football has become something you watch on TV rather than actually go to a game. Our away followings have been really poor as well this year, I thought after lockdown people would be itching to get back.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 1:48 pmI have to say, I cannot understand why the town and fans are not getting behind the team more at the moment. Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
I thought people said it was down to covid fears and ST holders being on holiday?
Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
I think ST holders are counted towards the attendance regardless of whether they turn up or not so I'm not sure people would have said that.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:01 pmI thought people said it was down to covid fears and ST holders being on holiday?

Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
In terms of empty seats rather than attendance figures, yes. I know of several season ticket holders who missed games due to being on holiday. I missed a game for the same reason although I did lend my ST.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:11 pmThey certainly did. It was used as an excuse to justify the empty seats.
Attendances have been down for a variety of reasons. Covid, holidays, frustrations with ticketing, people finding other things to do with their time, people not enjoying it, people not being able to afford it...to name just a few.

The stadiums seem to be full everywhere else in the PL. Just saying.taio wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:17 pmIn terms of empty seats rather than attendance figures, yes. Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
I did think holidays/Covid was the reason earlier in the season but we’re the only one with empty seats week after week and those factors also impact other clubs, so no excusing it now.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:28 pmThe stadiums seem to be full everywhere else in the PL. Just saying.

Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
Agreed, we’ve taken poor numbers away as well.
Football on TV is actually football on a stream when we play at 3pm, which we do more often than not. I can’t understand it really, it’s nothing like as good as attending a game live and our prices are really competitive for PL football.
Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
Is the "empty seats at Turf Moor syndrome" but nowhere else ... not down to the likes of "the ones" on here (not naming names but they know who they are) saying they are never going on t'Turf again because of the dire football played by Sean Dyches Burnleyfidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:28 pmThe stadiums seem to be full everywhere else in the PL. Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
Yes you mention good reasons. But as said above other teams grounds are packed. I wonder what Burnley have to do to attract more of the ethic Asian population? Many I imagine are fans of the big clubs.taio wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:17 pmIn terms of empty seats rather than attendance figures, yes. I'm picking my games because of the cost of the trains.

Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
Burnley haven’t got very many fans compared to most Premier League clubs. Not sure it’s worth agonising over.
Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
Not sure if the figures would back that up or not. But in any case, some of things I mentioned are more of an issue here than at other clubs.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:28 pmThe stadiums seem to be full everywhere else in the PL. Just saying.

Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
Aye and for another reason.
Looking at those empty seats, we must have the most principled fans in the Prem....
Re: Guess the gate v Palace?
And yet we are playing some very positive, effective, football.
My round trip of 470 miles was well worth it.

The clubs catchment is limited surrounded as it is to the south and west by many other clubs in divisions from premier to league 2
Burnley itself only has a population of c 80,000 of which probably less than 1/3 are potential fans and then it’s a financially poor catchment add all that together with being in the premier league no longer being a novelty and filling the stadium becomes a difficult task season after season and maybe the icing on the cake is each season seeming to be a relegation battle from day 1.
